I was expecting to be able to create any 5 letter word combination I wanted or add in a number/symbol if I chose. You don't get that option. When I looked closer at the photo, I could see that the "o" in "word3" is actually a zero. I remember words easier than symbols... I made it work for me, but I don't know how many word/number/symbol combinations I can actually make look like a word. Also, when unlocking it, you have to be precise in how you line it up to get it to open. Easy to get the word/number/symbol "wheels" off & on though. ... show more

I was very surprised at first when I got the lock, opened the package and saw all the pieces in my hand. Now that I have used it at the gym, in the garage, even on a lock box, I get it, I really like it! Please don't get discouraged, if you've not had this type of lock before! It works, the most important thing I can say is just that, it is a heavy-duty, well made padlock, that has your combination! The only reasen that you might not be able to use it would be the size of the shackle. You do need to note the diameter of the place that you want to use it most often! If you want something lightweight, and easy, this may be overkill. It’s sturdy and the combination ring tabs are excellent even if your hands are wet or sweaty. Also, a word combination is very practical. Unfortunately, it has no detente for the combination rings.
