This is a great solution to providing security to a location that is shared by several people. No keys to manage, easy to reprogram if necessary, and very easy to unlock with just one hand. Only negative comment would be that if using where it is exposed to the weather, I would not lock it during freezing conditions, as it does allow water into the innards, which will freeze and make opening it almost impossible. I cannot see combination numbers well without my glasses, so for the swimming pool this kind of lock is wonderful. Its just kind of hard to remember the combination for some reason

I got this to use at our local swimming pool while one arm is holding my baby. It’s great, except it doesn’t fit in the locker there. It needs a longer metal U piece…so it’s great IF it fits your needs but I can’t use it for it’s intended purpose.

These locks are really nice if you need security but also quick access. You can make the combination anything - and you move your thumb in the direction to open it. But you have to be very careful setting the combination - one wrong move and it's a doorstop. I set mine upon opening the package - I even wrote down the combination. But then I couldn't open it. I tried everything but it just didn't work. The cool thing is - I called Master Lock and they just sent me a free replacement within like 2 days, and I didn't have to send back the original lock. These are just the best lock for specific situations. We use them on our trash & recycling bins. They are so convenient because you don't have to worry about remembering a key AND the directional pattern is very helpful in low light or at night when combination locks are hard to see. If someone is bound & determined to get in, sure, they will be able to break the lock but as an effective deterrent against people making a mess going through trash/recycling they are the best. ... show more

I never even got to use it because it didn't store my combo properly after I reset it. I read the instructions, then watched the video on the master lock website twice. Then I wrote my new combo down, so I would have a visual reference as I input it, and be less likely to screw it up. Then, I followed the video step by step, pausing it as I completed each step to make sure I did it right. And after wasting all that time, I have myself an uber expensive paperweight. I am using it for backyard gate lock and it has been exposed to sun, rain, dews, dust, so far both locks I bought are working well. Once a while I have to redo opening sequence but 95% of times, it works first time.
