Description

The Master Lock 1177D ProSeries Resettable Combination Padlock is designed for industrial applications and features a 2-1/4in (57mm) wide shrouded solid brass body for superior corrosion resistance and a 1-1/16in (28mm) tall, 3/8in (10mm) diameter octagonal boron-carbide shackle with shrouded feature for ultimate cut resistance. Set your own combination offers convenience and security with 10,000 possible combinations – no reset tool required – and a deadlocking mechanism protects against prying, shimming and rap attacks. From the Manufacturer Designed for today's security requirements, the new 1177D ProSeries Resettable Combination Locks combine the strength and weatherability needed to withstand harsh treatment and tough environments. Available in brass these locks have new features that improve weatherability: the dial dust cover and the shackle seals keep dust and grit out of the internal mechanisms for trouble-free operation. Stainless steel shackles are also available on some models. These ProSeries locks stand up to physical attacks like no other resettable can. The enhanced octagonal boron- carbide shackles are twice as hard to cut as standard hardened shackles and the dead-locking mechanism holds against pry, shim and rap attacks. The ProSeries Resettable Combination locks combine these security improvements with added user convenience. With 10,000 possible combinations, the large ergonomic dials permit operation with gloves, in low light or complete darkness. These locks are also easily set with no special reset tool required.

Great piece of hardware. Sturdy. Normally I use a roll of quarters in a tube sock when my 50s greaser street gang breaks out of song and into fighting, but this lock fits in the sock so much better. And it does a lot more damage, too! I still haven’t used it for its intended purpose, but it looks like it would probably be good for that as well…you know, if that’s what you buy padlocks for. Do people actually use them for that? I just can’t see anyone using it for any other purpose than I’m using for though. ... show more

    • Doesn’t fit on Uhaul truck.
This is a very, very sturdy and well built lock. We bought this to secure the back door on a U-Haul truck while my daughter made a 3-day move. However, the raised protective sides, or “shoulders”, around the shackle loop prevented us from being able to get it under and through the handle on the truck’s back door. If you’re looking for a lock for that type of truck you can find a heavy duty Master lock, of similar quality, but without the protective “shoulders“ around the shackle.     • Feels solid and Works well .... but didn't fit on my storage unit door
I like dial combinations so 'we' don't have to carry keys - and remember which is which. (We carry a key-fob for access to the units - so I may re-evaluate my "keyless" criteria) I've used a few Master Locks on the storage unit doors. One of them needed replacement and I looked for a more rugged lock. This on LOOKED it and it FEELS it. Also, I like how the dials turn. Problem: I took it to my storage facility and it wouldn't fit on the door. The 3 corners that project up the most, interfere with (bump into) the moulding of the door-lock handle. For the price, etc. I liked the lock enough that I risked it >> I took a cutoff saw to those three corners, so they're the same height as the 4th, and now it fits onto my door. It sticks nearly straight out from the door. I don't know if someone with a bolt cutter can cut it off or not. ... show more

    • Its a big lock, with only a few draw backs all in all I like it
Update 12-17-20 this was on my storage unit ( big orange box place U know the one... ) apparently some one got in and sawed threw this thing like butter and was able to get into my unit in a few seconds. I was told from the friendly staff there that i should have been using the round style as it takes them slightly longer to seal my stuff. just be aware if your protecting valuables thieves have the right tools also. I used this on my storage unit ( shipping container ) its been through a season outside in Alaska... The Good, Seems beefy enough to handle the crow bar etc... ( its not the weak link on the container ) The Bad, - Shackle will only swing one way, some times a pain when its cold out and you put it on reversed ( you can see the short part of the casting on the left rear in the picture, this is what the shackle swings over. -Black plastic band near the middle is basically an o-ring if removed there are some pins you can see ( don't know if that good or bad... -The numbers are on the bottom and the plastic flap has two hinge points/tags that hold it onto the lock this flap has been prone to falling off. -Numbers are stiff enough / slick enough that moving them can not be accomplished with a gloved had, while not normally an issue it sucks to grab this thing when its -20 -while I love that the outside is a copper alloy ( no rust ) not sure what the inside is made of it does say this unit has a top seal, I've seen a little water in the spring go right through it ( also it did freeze once and i put some alcohol in it, seemed to go right in ) - Its big and actually seems to hang at 45° and not lay flat on the container. be aware of this as may not fit some locks. Conclusion, its big its bulky and does what its supposed to do, if it breaks I would buy another one just like it. ... show more

I just got this lock in to lock a storage room door. The 1st thing that I did was reset the combination from it's default setting to my personal setting. It is easy to change. In fact, it may be too easy to change. If a person is not watching how they handle it while it is open, they could easily change the combination by accident. The lock appears to be weather proof with rubber seals all around it. It even has a rubber bumper, which I did not understand. It is surprisingly heavy. I am pretty sure it will secure my storage room. (Note: The combination in the photo is not the combination that I set to open it.) Update July 16, 2015 I’ve been using this lock for a week, and am downgrading my 5 stars to 3 stars. It has a quark that I am not used to. If you close it without touching the combination, you can’t open it again until you move all of the tumblers. At least, that is what has been happening with me. I’ve lubricated the lock with lithium grease, so it shouldn’t be a matter of sticking. The locking mechanism seems to simply engage when the lock is closed. In reading where other people has had the lock simply refuse to open with the correct combination, I am starting to get concerned about this lock. (If the lock continues to work by simply dialing the correct combination, then I will upgrade the star rating.) Update: August 9, 2015 I just brought my rating back up to 4 stars. The idea of it locking even with the correct combination is strange. I've found myself think that it was locked when it could be opened again because I would forget to turn the tumblers. But after you get used to it, everything seems to work OK so far. ... show more
