I bought this portable safe as a gift for someone who has everything. At first he wasn't sure what he was going to use it for, but it turns out it's that thing you don't know you need until you need it. It's on the smaller side, so it's not for anything large. It's just enough room for a cell phone, credit cards, money, etc. But because it's portable, it's ideal for a lot of different uses. He said he took it with him to watch a little league game, and attached it to the bleachers with his cell phone and his keys. Long story short, he got up from the bleachers to do something and two hours later, remembered it. There is was, all safe and sound still attached to the bleachers. This portable locking case is like having a portable safe to bring with you when you'd like to secure valuables when away or traveling. Its dimensions are 9.5" x 5" x 2.5" and it weighs a bit over 1lb, 5oz so it won't take up much room in your carry on. The shell is hard plastic and the interior is lined with foam. Interior dimensions are 8.25" x 3.5". The lock mechanism intrudes into the space and eats up some of the available room. Regardless, I was able to secure 5 passports and 2 sets of keys plus cash in this locking box aboard a boat. Setting your own combination is simple - push in a slide to the right, set the lock combination of your choice, then release the slide. The cable, used to loop around immovable objects to secure the box, is 21" long. It easily fit around a bed frame, under a mattress. This lock box provides a sense of security in that anyone would (a) have to find the box and (b) have to demolish the box or the object the box is locked to, or attempt to cut the heavy steel locking cable in order to get to the contents. That would not be an easy, or quiet task, and thus discourages sticky fingers from picking up your items and walking away with them. ... show more

Actually bought this gift for our family for Christmas. My husband and I try to select one item to give to everyone and this is what we picked out and actually got one for ourselves as well. Right before the holidays we went on a trip and actually said we wish we had a lock while we were at the pool. With my family being big travelers this was a great idea. When we got the product, we really enjoyed the look of it. We thought it was well put together and was able to easily hold a phone and a wallet. It was at maximum capacity/ needing to configure pattern of the items in order to hold two phones and a wallet. The only concern I had with this, was if someone knew about the product they can easily be able to know the code to get into the product because it was the same for every type.
