    • Very Nice Headphones - Same As Mark Levinson 5909

I had planned on buying the Mark Levinson 5909 headphones until I discovered that the Master & Dynamic MW75’s are essentially the same headphones for $400 less. The M&D MW75’s lack a few CODEC’s that the ML 5909’s have, but other than some minor cosmetic differences and I’m sure some tuning differences, they are the same headphones. The FCC filings of the drivers are identical and were filed at roughly the same time. Both headphones are manufactured in the same facility by the same OEM. The apps are pretty much identical, and even the user manuals read verbatim in certain parts. Just take a look at the hand band and the ear cups. Again, other than a few cosmetic differences, they are the same. Even the M&D MW75’s operate identical and can be played completely passive like the ML 5909’s. Then there is the case and accessories. Almost identical between each unit. The M&D MW75’s sound really good, but they don’t sound quite as good as a pair of Beyerdynamic T5P’s that I have had for 12 years; even in the passive mode using a cable with the M&D MW75’s. Granted, the Beyer’s are not bluetooth noise cancelling headphones. I was just comparing a 12 year old pair of headphones that cost 1K at the time. The noice cancellation is very good and I have not noticed the slight hiss in either ear cup that others have complained of. Yes, the ear cups are a tad small, but they don’t bother my ears. My ears fit right into them. You can actually order a pair of the Master & Dynamic MG20 ear pads which fit the MW75’s, but are a little larger in the opening if one were to need more room, as I understand it. In my opinion the M&D MW75’s are not too lose on my head. I think they are quite comfortable and the bluetooth range is amazing with them. I use them wirelessly and wired. The app leaves a lot to be desired. There is no “EQ” other than four preset EQ’s within the app. This is really unacceptable in my opinion. Hopefully, M&D will update the app to provide a full fledged EQ graph so that you are not limited to four preset EQ’s. When using them wired, I will sometimes use a bluetooth/DAC dongle which has full equalization, in addition to all of the other CODEC’s such as LDAC. The problem with most other bluetooth headphones, is that they must be powered on, even if they have the ability to be used wired to a separate headphone amp. The Focal Bathys are an example. You do not get a true “passive” experience this way. Furthermore, should the battery ever go out in the headphone(s), they are essentially worthless. With the M&D MW75’s and Mark Levinson 5909’s, should the battery ever fail, you still have a set of headphones that can be listened to with a cable, since they do not need to be powered on to listen. Overall, I am happy with the M&D MW75’s and will be keeping them. ... show more

just wanted to thank everyone who gave these headphones great reviews.. they convinced me into buying these bad boys.. and I'm sure glad I did.. I have owned Sennheiser Bose sure ect.. these totally blow All of them away.. sure your probably pay almost double for these.. but trust me .. they are really worth it!.. I hear certain things in song's I never heard before.. and the noise cancelation is in a league of it's own.. some people were saying they could wear these things all day long.. they must have small ears.. around 3 hours at a time is All I can take before my ears get a little sore.. other than that.. best sounding headphones I even owned.. now I just might have to buy some of their earbuds.. very happy with my purchase ... show more

    • Great Sound Quality, Comfort, and Premium-Ness ...(is that a word?)

I have used these headphones for quite a while now, and have nothing but positive things to report. I ordered and received the tan leather / silver color combination and ohhhhhh boy, let me tell you. It's sexy. The colors match my silver MacBook and tan leather sleeve, so I get many compliments regarding my color coordination skills. The feel of the headphones are premium, and these are one of the few headphones in my whole life I can wear an extended period of time without discomfort. For a recent real-world example, I wore these headphones for the entirety of a direct flight from Los Angeles to Manila (that's like a 16 hour flight nonstop haha 🥴 ... but also had no charging plugs??? What in the world Philippines Airlines, what is this 2008???). I managed to fall asleep comfortably while listening to our quirky queen Taylor Swift on shuffle with these bad boys on, and never felt the need to remove them. They caress and envelop your ears like a supple soft silky scarf on a brisk autumn day, metaphorically speaking. I love the flexibility in usability these headphones provide. You can use them wirelessly with bluetooth or plug them directly into your device when you forget to charge them, which does wonders to enable my only character flaw of never recharging my accessory devices. The ability to activate or deactivate noise cancellation both in bluetooth and tethered modes, which did a tremendous job blocking out the myriad of baby cries and elderly coughs on the aforementioned air voyage, is extremely convenient and deeply, deeply appreciated. The buttons also feel good so that's nice. Yeah, only real area of improvement I can think of / wish for, which I'm not sure how it would be possible to implement given the limitations of our physical world without compromising build quality, is a smaller footprint for the included case and collapsable headphone design... but idk I just like listening to music and these are really good at letting you do that. Also, I used them to play the new God of War video game, and let me tell you that was an absolute experience and a half with these puppies cranked up. Highly recommend. ... show more

I have a pair of wired M&D... Love them. The sound is awesome. They are on the heavier side but solid build quality. I bought the M&DMW75 (Blue) today and I'm returning them. First the sound is still awesome and the ANC was super quiet. The issue, the mic doesn't work well. My calls were low quality, barely audible and static'y. The other issue, the headphones are not tight on the head. If I lean forward or backwards the headphones slide off my head. I had high hopes for these. ... show more
