    • No Overwhelming Bass
An update from August 2021. I bought these headphones in February 2021. Sadly, the ear pads are falling apart. The glue holding the leather simply was not strong enough. There is no simple replacement solution because they are affixed to a magnetic plate that snaps onto the, let's call them, earpieces. There is no way to remove the foam pads from that plate and replace then with other pads. The manufacturer, and by extension, are out of all colors except a lime green and some other nauseating color. No grey or black is available. I am so disappointed and am changing my overall rating to 3 stars from an original 5 stars. I wrote the review below soon after I received the headphones 6 months ago. Over the past 10 years I have spent hundreds of dollars on headphones so that I can watch television with the volume up for me without bothering my wife, who likes the volume low. I have owned wireless with a transmitter; wired; and Bluetooth. I first learned about this company a few weeks ago when I received an e-mail from another dealer about the Master & Dynamic noise cancellation headsets. I looked at the write-up and read reviews both on that site and here at Amazon. But I was leery of noise-cancelling phones because I had unbearable migraines that may have been brought on by them. After a few weeks, I finally decided to give these a try simply because so many people complained about the poor bass. That was exactly what I wanted, headphones that did not accentuate the base because I am trying to watch TV and hear the dialog. Having a pair of headphones with bass enhanced so much that a 5-year-old girl's voice matches that of the Oak Ridge Boys rendition of Elvira was not allowing me to hear the dialog. This pair allows me to hear the voices regardless how loud the background music is. One warning. Do not hold down the on/off switch too long when turning them on after pairing because you might lose your Bluetooth connection and have to pair them again. I know I did. ... show more

    • Amazing headphones with some issues with comfort
PROS +Sound quality is amazing, music was bright, punchy, and detailed +Design and build quality is stellar. The aluminum and leather lend to the solid construction. +Multipoint is on point. Many bluetooth headphones these days feature the ability to connect to two devices at the same time. However, one major problem I've noticed the multipoint in other headphones is their inability to distinguish between which device they should be playing from during certain situations. Swapping back and forth between my phone's spotify and my pc's spotify proved to be quite a challenge for most multipoint headphones, where the audio would cut in and out before figuring out the correct device for audio playback. However, the MH40's did not have this issue and would be able to swap between devices seemlessly and quickly. CONS: -Comfort is lacking a bit. Although the earcpads are thick and spacious, they are a bit too stiff to be comfortable. Additionally, the headband has very little support and was one of the only headphones I tested that caused pain on the top of my head. -Battery life is a bit short. While I did not test completely from 100% to 0%, after 4 hours, my battery went down by 40%. This does not bode well for the rest of its battery life. ... show more

    • Incredible sound and unparalleled comfort
I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect headphones. I have tried countless earbuds, over the ears, noise cancelling, etc. just to find a pair that I loved. I think I have found that pair with these M&Ds. As soon as I opened the box I could tell these were luxurious and that feeling was confirmed when I put them on and felt absolute bliss. The ear cups were more comfortable than any I had worn before and blocked out a lot of sound from the outside without using an active noise cancellation technology. That ANC usually is very uncomfortable for me and is a sacrifice I have to make with other headphones in order to block out sound and listen to music at a comfortable, but that is not the case with these. The pairing with my phone was easy and once I got started I fell in love with the sound. The highs, mids, and lows all hit perfectly and every instrument was distinguishable. This sound quality is incredible and hard to beat and every genre sounds great (from classical to soul to hip-hop). I've worn them every day for over a week and it's safe to say I have found my perfect pair of headphones. A huge bonus is how cool they look. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a great pair of headphones they can wear all day and experience beautiful sound with. The price is high but if music, comfort, and style are important to you, it is a small price to pay. ... show more
