The 10% in sheer volume you will loose by installing these (or any lighter strings) is more than overcome by ease of playing you’ve never experienced until you put silk and steels on your acoustic. And I like the tone better also. Unless you just have to play every weekend outside in a large band and cannot be heard, dump your steel strings and try these once. Your left hand will reward you with more hours of playing without sore fingertips steel strings will leave. You do have more stretch in time when they are new, so more tuning is required until they stretch in good. They will last longer than steel strings also. I do not observe any more or less string breakage either way, steel or silk and steel, but I rarely break one.
