I am 5’4” @130 lbs I was looking EVERYWHERE for a long, waterproof, warm, hooded coat that’s not a puffer coat. I didn’t want the dogs toenails or anything else to accidentally puncture or rip the coat. I saw a women’s blog about this coat and others and she said she already researched a long or maxi
coat and this was it. I found the blog after a spent hours looking 🙄although I would have looked anyway just not as long. I walk two dogs separately everyday twice a day and in Maine it rains a fair amount in the winter and it’s also cold. I have Bog boots that are tall and I didn’t want to have to wear waterproof pants to boot. You have to put enough on before going out. Pros: It is the longest coat out there that’s NOT a puffer. It is waterproof I’ve been out twice in the pouring rain (once unexpected) It is warm, could be warmer though - this is also a con It was under $400 barely It does not have velcro on the cuffs It has two different snaps on the cuffs Has the soft inside cuffs so snow doesn’t go down or up your arm The jacket isn’t stiff (my daughter has one from another company that’s VERY stiff and not as long as mine-on sale similar price) Big zip pockets for treats, poop bags, poop, and gloves (yes I put the leakproof bags of poop in my pockets then throw them away when I get home) Has one zip inside chest left pocket that you could put an iPhone 12 max with case in it. I put an emergency poop bag in mine. Cons: Don’t know what’s up with the darn hood and neck “closure”. This is a big con because neither the large or medium would the neck flaps close with the Velcro and the jacket wouldn’t zip all the way up with a scarf on. I hemmed and hawed about keeping either the medium or large. Decided to keep the medium because the hood fit (not wonderful) but the large was just irritating because I constantly had to mess with it falling forward even with a hat on. With the large I still couldn’t Velcro close the neck flap. Pretty much from the shoulder up they need to go back to the drawing board. Some others wrote about that as well. Having the fur on the hood helps with the wind. I also wear a scarf and you can’t zip the neck up all the way because it’s too tight (same with the large). This coat could be warmer. I was out in 20 degrees below zero with a nasty wind and I had a long sleeve shirt on underneath and I really kind of had to keep moving a bit. With these coats I don’t want to have to wear additional layers that why I got this coat. So I just add an extra layer since the pros outway the cons plus $400 should be sufficient for what I was “asking for”. Hope this helps other women. It’s an investment to me if it’s over $200…just sayin. ☺️

The coat is warm and not bulky. The zipper goes up high and is great if you are outdoors often or have pets to walk all winter long. I did dry clean it once and it was like new again. Expensive investment but good quality and very warm!!

This coat is warm, waterproof and windproof. Exactly what i was looking for during the cold, wet, windy northeastern winters. Zipper is two way, The hood fits great (i had to remove the hood from my other coat because it was way to big). Even the faux fur is nice. Well worth the price. Highly recomme

This jacket runs large. I’m 5’8”, 140 lbs and the medium is a tad too big, when I’m a tried and true size medium (if I there’s no vanity sizing). It’s a great jacket though, and I will wear it with sweaters, so I kept it. Bought it for a fall trip to Ireland knowing the average temps will be in the h
igh 40s/lower 50s range, and raining most days. The jacket is down filled (synthetic I think), and the inside is soft. It’s definitely going to be warm enough. It appears to be rain resistant, which is what Marmot claims, but I’ll test it out soon enough and will report back if it fails. So far, while this is not a cheap jacket, my other Marmot coats have been really fabulous, high-quality items, so guessing this one will be the same and thus, worth every penny.

I have found my perfect coat!
Size: X-Small
Color: Black
I received it today right in the blizzard. I cannot tell how well it performs in the cold and wet as I don't feel like getting outside now. What I can say is that the fit is amazing and it is very flattering to my shape. I am 5 ft tall and 100 lbs, and XS in black fits me very well and there is sligh
t room to spare around the waist. With how petite I am, I always have trouble finding clothes that fit. This one is perfect. The waist is where it is supposed to be. The coat falls just above my knees, unlike the picture. The sleeves are a little too long and fall onto my knuckles. If I make a fist, the hands will disappear into the sleeves, which I don't really mind. The material looks like it will resist moisture. The inside of the jacket is sewn in small squares, so it will keep the down in place. I have been looking for a smooth coat that is flattering and does not make me look like I wear a duvet. I have an Eddie Bauer one in petite. Though the fit is good, it is the puffy kind. It says water proof, but the material does not look it, and surely the wet snow melts and sips right through. I also try the Arc'teryx one, but it is way too long and the fit is not as flattering. I tried a couple of North Face ones, and do not like them at all because I look like a bear in them. Canada Goose XS is too tight around my waist and uncomfortable and the sleeves are way too long. If I paid close to $1000 for a coat, it'd better fit more than perfect. SO Chelsea is it!! Will update if it does not perform in the cold or snow. And now I have to replace that faux trim....

Great item, I'm ordering a larger size
Size: X-Large
Color: Jet Black
I felt the pictures from my review will help others. The coat in the picture is XL and I think it's a generous cut. I listened to the reviews and wondered if an XXL would be too large. Not for me. I'm 5'8", 236 lbs. The XL was able to zip but not the fit I will stick with. My shoulders are broad and
so are my hips and I was able to zip up the XL size. Shoulders were too snug to move, an XXL will be a better fit for me. Note the arm length, I typically order tall for my arms but this was great. It is extremely light weight but I started to sweat within 5 minutes inside. I'm sure it will do well in the elements. Update: I ordered an xxl and it’s roomy. I have very broad shoulders (41”) and my shoulders are happier in xxl.

Runs large and a bit shapeless
Size: Small
Color: Jet Black
I’m a steadfast size medium, but after ordering and returning a size medium, I tried the small, and it was a much better fit. I can still comfortably add layers underneath without impinging my movement. The jacket is a little bit shapeless, the waist a bit baggy and not very stylish. I like the hood
size, a feature I know many people didn’t positively review. I don’t know if I’ll keep this.

Better in person, made of high quality materials and a flattering, feminine cut. It's the ideal winter jacket to me, not bulky but has the comforting weight of a quilt and the warmth of 700 gram fill down. Waterproof and windproof.

For such a pricey coat, I had hoped I wouldn’t get cold but my arms still get cold in 30 degree weather, and that’s with a long sleeved shirt and a sweater and a puffer vest. I wouldn’t recommend this coat if the weather dips below 40. I do run cold which is why I splurged on this coat in the first p
lace.

Had such high hopes but what an odd fit
Size: XX-Large
Color: Jet Black
I wanted to love this Marmot and had very high hopes; i needed a warm down jacket that was also waterproof for my upcoming trip to Italy in the rainy season so I pulled the trigger. SUCH a let down. I dont know where to start. The jacket just fit oddly; it was snug / ok in the arms (I do have thicker
arms) and fit fin in the chest (I dont have big boobs), the waist was fine. But then it flared out in the oddest way from the waist down, almost like a bell shape. And then the pockets were SO low that i almost had to hunch down to put my hands deep into them. That wont work in the cold, pockets need to be near your hands, not your knees! AND the length was just so long. I'm 5-6 and felt like i was drowning in the jacket. Then the hood did not pull forward far enough so your head just looks wierd. I have plenty of ski jackets and ski coats and the hoods cover perfectly, this one not so much. All in all, really disappointed and expected so much better from Marmot. I guess if your 5-7 or taller it may work for you but had to send this back and look for something different. Boo.

Color is darker than the pic as other review described but I think that's ok. Very functional. Good details. I like the fit. Hood is very small though, which is the only part I don't like. Nice buy with the deal.

I bought this coat at a major retailer but before removing the tags I found it on amazon for $130 less. That’s a significant difference. I wasn’t convinced it was the same coat so I bought it and compared the two side-by-side. I was literally counting stitches per inch , looking at the seam pattern o
n the lining, everything. Two differences: 1. that Marmot logo was in black stitching on the amazon coat and white in the dept store coat. 2. the tag that states the manufacture date was 2017 the amazon coat vs 2019 for the department store version. I returned my original purchase since I’d not worn it or removed the tags. It’s a great coat for this weird Chicago winter. It hits me just above the knee (I’m 5’9”). The hood fits closely to keep out the elements, the zippers are solid and the cuffs are great. I love it.

I spent a great deal of time researching winter jackets. I'm 5'5 and about 250 lbs, bottom heavy so with thick arms; I can't just buy any long jacket. This item is NOT the color pictured in the listing. It appears as if the color has been altered on purpose to appear a more "trendy" color. The color
is much closer to an army green, but faded or a bit greyer. As I had spent a great deal of time reading reviews, I decided that I would be OK with either the color in the listing or the color which was reported by one of the reviews. The jacket itself is warm and fits well, even over my large thighs and bottom and my larger arms. I am very happy with this item.

Get it when it's on sale around NOV/DEC.
Size: Large
Color: Platinum
Excellent. Best bang for dollar if you don't mind not having full Gore-tex brand and full 100% Goose down. Wait for the sale or when it drops in price. Amazon has some stock algorithm and this jacket can be had for $210 plus tax. YOU CANNOT BEAT That price/performance!

Very flattering, but quality is questionable
Size: Small
Color: Urban Army
I want to love this jacket. It goes down almost to my knees and it is extremely flattering. It has no Velcro anywhere on it, so you don’t have to worry about it ruining your clothes. But it feels thin, and I don’t think it will be warm enough for sub zero temperatures. It also runs a bit small, so it
wouldn’t be possible to wear another thin jacket underneath it. I am very skeptical of the 700 fill power rating. Also, the cuffs are made of a very cheap feeling polar fleece, which I know will pill very quickly. The seams also don't look super well sewn. I worry it will leak down. The waterproofing is Marmot branded, so I’m not sure how well it will hold up.
