Get gritty and try to score the most goals by tackling enemies and pulling off score-boosting Hyper Strikes. Super Mario series mainstays like Peach, Toad, and Yoshi put their cleats (and stats) to the pitch and will stop at nothing to score…even if it means getting a little rough. Take the carnage online or pass the ball to players locally—just look out for the electric fence. Gear up and power up Tear up the field to earn coins and redeem them for stylish-and-sturdy gear. Don these accessories to customize your characters’ stats and appearance. Give your dribblers a speed boost or bump up your shooting skills for scoring. Mix it up to match your strategy. You’ll also find items on the field like Shells and Bananas—use ‘em to trip up your opponents to steal the ball or score. Team up with Strikers near and far, or join an online club to push and shove your way up the ranks 8 players can go for the goal on one Nintendo Switch system, with local wireless, or online. Bring along a secondary Striker on the same system in online battles, too. Locally, 4 players on each team can go cleat-to-cleat in individual matches. With Strikers Clubs, band together with up to 20 Strikers online and compete against other clubs for points. Find the right club for you, team up with friends, and bring your own Striker style to the table. Redeem in-game tokens for goals, accessories, and more to customize your club’s stadium! I have to say when I first saw some of the clips of the game and the trailers I was worried it wouldn’t capture the fun from the old games but I am happy to be wrong. The game is a lot of fun even if it doesn’t offer a massive amount of depth. It’s classic 5 vs 5 fun but offers plenty of twists and fun. Everything in the game can be edited to change your play style like time , items and the newly added Hyper Strikes. The Hyper strikes look great but my original concern was they could break the game. Don’t worry They don’t because they are nowhere near as easy to pull off as you might think and they actually can be blocked by the goalie. To do the hyper strike you need to be in open space while executing your button press exactly. The payoff is worth it because not only do you get two goals on one shot but the cut scenes look great for every character. It actually feels worth it if you can pull one off successfully. The game is definitely great for families and friends with online being a great option to finally have in a strikers game. In online you can customize your soccer club from kit to stadium. Hopefully they add more kit designs in the future and more Mario characters to choose from but it’s still a lot of fun. Cup Battles is a fun single or co-op player mode where you play cpu teams to win the tournament. My only real negatives so far are there are only 10 characters to choose from at release and only 2 celebrations when you score for each character. Definitely fun and hopefully they add more cups, stadiums, characters and celebrations as DLC in the future. I also wouldn’t mind the ability to change the control scheme as well. This may sound crazy but the game can be as addictive as Mario Kart . It has just the right amount of customization with characters points and items that don’t destroy the balance of the game. It looks beautiful and runs smooth. The game is amazing and has room to grow with DLC in the future as Nintendo usually does a great job supporting their first party (especially Mario games) with free DLC! They have already promised updates in the future and hopefully they are substantial ones. This is a must buy and one of the games of the year so far! Update: So the game is actually a lot Of fun but the longevity could have been better with a fuller release. Nintendo has been using this staggered content release format commonly with their sports game but for Strikers in particular holding back so many characters is a mistake because the variety of characters definitely makes online play and team choice far more fun. I love that Nintendo keeps supporting games so well post release but I really do hope we see far more characters available from the start going forward ... show more
