  • Just this 1/4" x 1/4 inch piece being broken renders the entire apparatus useless. That part
This is an extremely cheap made product when it comes to the hose and pump housing plastics. The first thing I noticed was a small black broken pc. of plastic floating in the box. I didn't know what it was until I started to put this together. It was one of the plastic clips used to on/down the plate that needs to be pressed to change or clean the pump filter. Just this 1/4" x 1/4 inch piece being broken renders the entire apparatus useless. That part, being made out of brittle plastic is absurd. Made to fail. UPS carried it on their truck for two weeks apparently before it got here. When I complained to Amazon in the afternoon, it was here the next afternoon, so it had to be on that daily truck. The pump itself is very adequate, as in power. The clips do not open nearly wide enough to grip a car battery post. Except maybe those with side posts. I use a marine battery that also runs my trolling motor. It ran the thing 72 hrs before I pulled the plug, and may have run double that. The wiring is good, solidly encased. The water hose is extremely thin but also stiff and brittle, and you are warned not to cut to size on the wrong end if you wish to fit length, but I don't see how it would work no matter which end you cut. So I coiled the hose at it's natural bends, which was plenty long and secured it with zip ties. In order to secure the lid for the filter, I had to thread a long wire bread tie through a water inlet hole, then through the sponge filter, then through a tiny hole in the top of the cap and twist it tight. It took me 3 hours hours to rig it, and I'm mechanically inclined. If I weren't, I would have had to throw it in the trash. If it hadn't been broken it wouldn't have lasted long with those clips. There is such a thing as unbreakable plastic, but they probably don't use it because it has little to no spring, (which that type of clip-hold-down design would require). It's not poorly designed, just uses the wrong, cheapest of the cheap building materials. I'd pay almost double for one that was built out of good stuff. You have to thread blunt nosed, "machine," screws into the suction cups, (which necessarily cut their own threads going in), so you have to be careful. Vibration will soon render these useless. I was lucky to have one extra, as one of the holes was too small to even start one screw. This was made in Florida and it's still no better than Chinese quality. There were lots of long, thick, straight black hairs wrapped and tangled around the pump and loose inside the box. I was worried about horseplay and someone may have been hit in the head with it and that's maybe how it got broken. Or it's cheap labor carelessness. I wouldn't buy another one. I could see how it could have been much worse. ... show more

  • Works very well for a good price
Very pleased with this purchase. So much so that I am making a portable live well and have purchased a second one.

  • Good Quality- easy install
Pumps works well, easy to install. I didn’t use the tubing that it came with, i custom created my own livewell using only the pump

  • Nice addition to my Live Well!
The media could not be loaded. This has been working very well so far. This is designed as a "portable" pump, but I permanently installed this pump in my boats live well. As the drain for the live well is below the water line, I would have to put the boat up on plane so that it would drain and then I could pump put fresh water in. Well, the warm days of summer you will lose oxygen very fast causing the fish to die. So I mounted this to recirculate/oxygenate the water with the need to drain and refill. Mounted base directly to the bottom of the live well Remove suction cups, used Stainless steel screws (in same holes as suction cup) Used silicone adhesive around screws and as gasket between base an live well bottom. Ran hose up and around the underneath lip of live well, using 1 dia. Hangers. Trim hose to fit length. Spliced water proof connector from pump to 12v power source (if pump fails I can swap it out easily) Replaced current "live well" console switch "on-off" with an "on-off-on". (1 switch fill, then run this recirculating pump) ** UPDATE Pump has work well all summer I have added a video so you can see it in action. ... show more

  • Works for my bait;
Made a live well for sardines and anchovies for pier / shore fishing. Ice chest + this kit + 12v marine battery kept my bait alive until i ran out. Remember to throw a 5 gallon bucket of ocean water in every half hour or so and you'll be fine. Slits in the PVC (water outlet) were a little narrow and had a tendency to clog with fish scales if i didn't clear them, so i opened up the holes a bit. Over all, not a bad buy; the other components were much more expensive, but this seems to hold up as long as you flush the pump when you get home. ... show more

  • Bought 2 and they both stopped working after a few hours
I bought 2 of these, 1 as my main livewell aerator and 1 as a backup. The first pump stopped working after a few hours and the second failed in even less time. Seemed good for the short time they ran.

  • Keepin' the catch alive
Assembled and installed it inside of a mid-size cooler for the first fishing trip of the year. It's very easy to put it together, manual easy to read and understand. You can use all of what comes in the box or leave part of the pvc pipe that comes apart to fit inside of smaller coolers. We caught 2 big smallmouths and put them in the cooler. 2 hours later and thanks to the aeration system, fish were perfectly alive and moving as they were still in the lake. Overall, I'd recommend this product. It's made of material on the cheaper side, therefore I think product is a tad overvalued, but it does the job. Go for it. Thanks for reading. ... show more
