Ordered the 2-pack and immediately placed one into the river behind my house. This is brackish water and I generally leave the trap down there 24/7, only bringing it up briefly a few times each day to see if we have any visitors. If you use bait, obviously, you'll have a lot more luck catching things. We've caught a lot of blue crabs, a lot of small bait-sized fish, some minnow-sized fish. Also once caught a mudfish, which is a pretty cool looking creature. It actually turned out to be a great size for catching scuds, because they love getting all wound up into the mesh material. These traps fold down flat or expand upon demand, which is nice and easy to use. Overall, they are durable, but I did experience an issue with the string, which is very stringy and a little chintzy, resulting in actually breaking one day and now the trap is lost to the river. I'm sure keeping it in brackish water all this time wore down the string. I feel bad about that because all kinds of critters could get caught inside and not find a way out. Thinking about calling the Coast Guard to see if they can help! But otherwise, it's actually a pretty good product and it's mostly cost-effective. Once I lost the first one, I immediately took out the second one. I have to come up with a better attachment to replace its string though, to avoid losing this one as well.

I love these things, I have 4 now! Plan to replace the tether that comes with it, other than that they work as advertised. You can catch bait with these, but if you like adventure think bigger. The traps collapse and are small enough that I can put them in my larger backpacks on day trips or multi-day hikes. When I make camp I throw them into a creek or slough with some jerky, or raw chicken if I have it, and go about my business of setting up camp. Usually there are a few crawfish in there by a late dinner time, if not there are by morning. Crawfish and grits in the backcountry is a great treat and these collapsible traps make it easier. Make sure you bring a trash bag to put the traps in if you don't have time for them to dry before packing up.

JUNK! The zippered access opening does not allow you to reach in. Open the zipper to discover the mesh netting is sewn across the entire opening on the inside of the zipper on both traps received. No way to bait the trap or retrieve any trapped minnows. Obviously the manufacturer has no idea how the trap is supposed to work. Also, the retrieving "rope" is more like string. Like dental floss size. It took over 4 weeks in shipping. Don't waste your time or money!

One of the traps broke after only a few uses catching crabs. Seems to be made of very flimsy materials and holes were made on the traps from crabs struggling to get out. Also, the hooks have very sharp edges and if not careful, it could leave a nasty cut on your fingers. On the positive side, the traps are collapsible and easy to carry. If you're looking to use these for a few days and toss them out, these are pretty good for the price.

I literally was unsure at this price point if these would work, but they worked incredibly AND came with 2 traps, not one metal trap that cost more! We caught crabs, kilis & puffer fish without issue, and none got out until I let them go. I was afraid of a crab getting caught in the mesh, but nope… it was very easy to get everything out of them. What an outstanding deal. I’ll buy more in the future 👍!! I’ve crabbed my whole life & never had these types of traps b4. The metal one we brought along yielded nothing at all. these traps are perfect for catching small fish crawfish or any other small aquatic animals, we used them to catch crawfish in our pond. the zipper top made it easy to empty the traps and the food bag held our bait perfectly. 10/10 would definitely recommend. Great buy for the price we used our catch to make a delicious etouffee 😬
