Description

Designed for the ultimate music and movie surround sound experience, the 7-channel MM8077 power amplifier delivers power and detail, and is rated at 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 180 watts per channel into 6 ohms. The power supply features a high current toroidal power transformer along with high power filter capacitors that provide substantial headroom for dynamic peaks along with the ability to handle lower impedance speaker loads. All output stages feature identical topology for uniform high-quality sound across all channels, and the MM8077 lets you choose between balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs for each channel, for maximum system configuration flexibility. The amp is equipped with multiple high current, high bandwidth discrete power transistors with a high slew rate, which extracts the most detail from today’s high-resolution audio formats. Pair the MM8077 with MM7705 5-channel power amplifier to enjoy thrilling 11 channel surround sound with the latest multi-channel audio formats, such as DTS Neo:X. For easy control, the MM8077 features remote power on/off control compatibility with select Marantz A/V pre-amplifiers, such as AV8801.

  • Worth the money to my amazement .
I bought this to replace my Emotiova xpa 5 which I had for almost 9 years cause it was starting to have to many problems. 1 st the Rca jacks broke and Drew Baird , an excellent person , from Moon Audio was cool enough to fix it ( Emotiva way to expensive even with the so call warranty) and than the xlr started to go along with it cutting itself off. So, enter the Marantz which I was nervous about cause of the amp power difference 200 vs 150. Well, the Amp matches well with my Marantz 8802a in looks and performance. A much cleaner and detail sound than the Emotiva by far. The Emotiva is more dynamic, but at the cost of hearing the finer details. I was shocked when I replayed my Amy Winehouse Blu ray disc and even flac files on my Usb cause all of them just sounded so detail, dynamic and quieter. My SvS ultra towers never sounded better. Now, I had to throw in a movie and re watched the 4k Matrix which I just watched with the ol Emotiva xpa 5 and even that had better higher detail, fuller sounding and the sound stage seemed a lot wider. So, I'm a very pleased person and think my movie and music have improved. Money , lots of money spent welland super fast delivery from IQ Home Entertainment. My connections to the amp are all Audioquest Water XLR . The Matantz Amp and pre pro are plugged into a Audioquest Niagara 1000 using a Audioquest Thunder "powercable" which is plugged into a dedicated 20 amp line . ... show more

  • Superior Power Amp
I purchased this with a Marantz AV7701 Processor (Preamp). These are hooked up to an OPPO BDP103 BluRay player, Two Klipsch Klipschorns front speakers, and the following Klipsch speakers: Large center, two small side, two large rear and a large subwoofer. They are all plugged in to a SURGEX Eliminator Series surge protector. I hooked them up with Audyssey(?) Chocolate connections. The Marantz replaced an older Rotel separates set-up. After I hooked it up, I tested it with some dynamic classical music and WOW! The sound was so full and crisp. We heard instruments that we had never heard before. Tremendous range. The sound for movies and the TV also go through the system. Never better. A true Cineplex experience. I am very pleased with the Marantz set-up. Worth every penny. ... show more

  • Misleading - Not 150w / 7-channels
When you look at the amazon description AND the spc sheet you may think it is 150w x 7 channels, but it is only rated for 150W / 2 channels at 8 ohm. The MM8077 does not seem to be a whole lot better than the amp in the SR5015, but it is $1,000 more expensive.

  • Works well, but, a foot was cracked, and can power down.
Works well, but, a foot was cracked, and can power down and not start if there is a power outage. You have to turn off and on the Surge Suppressor it's attached to to get it to turn back on. Maybe that's a safety feature, but I thought it was broken for a while.

  • It's a perfect match for the Marantz AV8801 Surround Sound system
It's a perfect match for the Marantz AV8801 Surround Sound system. Sounds GREAT when to take the short amount of time it takes to set up and optimize. Very easy to do. I've owned several high end systems in the past, but I have to say, that this setup is the best to date. As to the price, you can't beat it with this level of performance. Be sure and use high end quality speakers to really appreciate the overall sound quality. ... show more

  • Cant stand against Onkyo
I had the opportunity to audition this unit out for about a month or so. While it is a decent unit, it does not stand up to the Onkyo, the onkyo appears to have better sound, more power, 9 channels and $500 cheaper.
