The boom arm is separate from the mounting base and seats into it with a set screw to hold position, although even cranked down you can still force it. The mounting base footprint is quite small. The boom arm can rotate at the point it connects to the mounting base. When the boom is extended parallel to the mounting base everything is relatively level, when the boom arm is extended and rotated it has a tendency to tilt towards the side it's rotating into. Also observed that rotating the boom caused the mounting base to walk a bit and it needed to be re-secured once I got it into a position I liked. There is also rotation at the mic where it connects to the boom arm but its due to a thread adapter being used at that point and is more or less at the mercy of gravity should you choose not to fully tighten it. Springs in the boom arm are considerably tight. Good for keeping position, bad for fine adjustment. No cable management in the boom arm, I used a couple black cable ties once everything was in position and that worked fine. Shock mounting is tight, no observable drooping or unnecessary jiggling. My takeaway from the boom arm is that it's adequate for set and forget. If you're constantly moving the mic and/or boom then my sense is that this mounting base would be a likely source of frustration. Mic quality felt on par with various Logi webcam mics I've used. This was out of box I didn't install the Maono software because I have no need/interest of any of that. I did not try the XLR connection because I do not have this equipment. The foam cover doesn't appear to be removeable, I didn't feel like tearing mine so I didn't really pull on it that hard. ... show more

This is so far the nicest mic I've used to date, including some mainstream gaming branded ones. The boom arm included is really nothing special, but it's nice that it comes with it instead of sticking you with a desk mount that isn't at all appropriate for the mic. The microphone itself has great quality. Probably nothing like a (very pricey) studio microphone, but if you're getting started with a stream, podcast or music career this is a fantastic choice for a super budget-friendly price. The software associated with it is fairly robust and gives you both "I have no idea what I'm doing" and "I'm an expert" controls, which is a nice change of pace. The RGB lights are subtle but pronounced enough that you keep some of the gamer aesthetic if you want. It opted for a "low tech" mute button instead of a touch control, which isn't fancy but it works well. The volume knob is probably this thing's greatest weakness, in the sense that you have to click the knob to toggle between Microphone and Audio Out instead of having two dedicated knobs. Nice if you don't intend to use the built in audio out, but a bit of a hassle if you do because you'll then have to remember which color means which thing or risk toggling the wrong part. It's not the coolest looking microphone on the market, but this is definitely an amazing choice for the budget-concerned that need a good quality microphone. Highly recommended. ... show more

As someone who does a lot of streaming and voice-over work, having a high-quality microphone is essential and this kit has exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the design of the microphone is sleek and modern with its RGB lighting feature, making it stand out on my desk. The boom arm included in the kit is also very sturdy and easy to adjust, allowing me to position the microphone exactly where I need it. The sound quality of this microphone is exceptional. the microphone works well; recordings made using it sound good. A headset can plug into the back of the microphone, and doesn’t have to plug in separately to the computer. It was easy to set up, and required no special software to start using. The boom is okay. It doesn’t have a lot of degrees of freedom, but if you can find a good place to clamp it, it holds the mic well so it can be moved in and out of the way. It has some color options, which might be handy if you are recording a video and want a bit of extra flair. Or if you just like colorful lights because it’s fun.
