I did have super high hopes for this if I'm being honest. It definitely exceeded my expectations! It works good for smaller (less than 14"+ diameter) pieces. The wood I've split so far has been dry. I think where this shines is when it's not easy to use an axe. It makes splitting medium to small pieces controlled. The construction design is smart. The welds and execution of the design where fine but not award winning. The blade is sharp-sharp! If you have a smaller stove or want small pieces to start a fire, this is a great option. I thought the value was good. Overall, I would recommend this splitter!

This kindling splitter feels solid and slices through wood with less effort than I expected. The unique blade design handles even thicker pieces pretty well, and it's held up fine after a few weekends of splitting. It’s lighter than cast iron, which makes it easier to move around for camping or outdoor use. Only downside—it still takes a few good hits with a mallet, so don’t expect it to do all the work. Still, a reliable tool that makes splitting safer and quicker.

I picked up this tool as a safer means of generating kindling using a hatchet or ax. Ahead of the winner, we always like to make a box or two of kindling from the logs we have delivered to the house. Our kids help us out with this job, so we're always looking for a safer option for these chores. This tool allows us to make a great deal of kindling with simply using a mini Sledge to pound the top of the logs that are set on the blade. The additional fins below the blade create a very effective wedge, allowing the log to be split exactly where you wanted to.
