Hands down the best yoga mat I have EVER used (and I'm very picky!). The mat is very grippy and has great cushioning. No slippage whatsoever! even when it was new - and now that it's older, the grip has even improved. I do hot yoga mostly and even during the sweatiest last 15 minutes of class, the grip is awesome. I previously used Lululemon mats - those have almost NO grip unless you are sweaty, then the grip is almost like flypaper! lol So i used to have to spray the Lulu mat to get it grippy. I didn't do the recommended overnight salt cleaning (too messy) - i just made my own mat spray with distilled water and essential oils - worked perfectly to remove the initial coating. Great mat, great support, but very VERY slippery. Definitely needs to be broken in with plenty of use to get the oil or whatever off the mat, and clean it regularly.

Great colors!, I have gone thru 3 other types of mats in a year so I upgraded, this high quality mat was recommended by my instructor, slippery at first but then I did the salt in the sun process and its perfect

I love my manduka mat! I tend to spend hours researching before buying, and reviews for this mat were excellent. I've had two yoga mats before, but they were both cheaper ones so I wanted something quality that would last me. I was hesitant at first when considering this one because it isn't as thick as the mat I was using before and I really need that extra cushion, but I'm glad I went for it. Even though it is a little less thick than my old one, it's more dense so I actually find it's more comfortable. You definitely have to "break it in" because you do start out slipping a little during poses like down dog, but it's totally worth the effort. ... show more

I'm on the fence on this one. It has great cushion properties as promised so even though it appears thin, it protects boney knees and ankles. But as far as grip goes, my feet and hands start to slide as soon as I start to sweat so I always have to have a towel near by. I do find this annoying and have gone back to my old mat a few times in frustration. The instructions that came with it mentioned a film that would wear away over time. They suggested using your mat every day to help it wear off but when you are slipping around, it is hard to sign up for that on a daily basis. They also mentioned scrubbing it with sea salt and then rinsing it off... That's not going to happen. So, I'm on the fence on this one with one positive and one kinda big negative. ... show more

    • Great investment for my yoga practice
Finally decided to invest in a new yoga mat that would last me. I practice 5x/week and seemed to be getting a new (cheap) mat once/year. This is a great mat and it did take a little over a week to break it in. I did the salt rub that was recommended after the first few times I used it and it seemed to help with the slipping. I have been using now for a little over a month and am loving it the more I use it. This color, Element is a light grey, which I like, as it doesn't leave any marks.
