  • Nice little compact and powerful impact wrench!
Picked this thing up to make working on my ATV a lot easier, and quicker. Mainly to change out the wheels/tires, as that's a lot of lugnuts to mess with a regular ole' ratchet on, but I've also found that this things compact size makes it really useful on doing other stuff on the ATV. Used it to install my front and rear bumpers/brush guards, and I'll use it again here shortly to install my Warn VRX 25 winch, and the compact size will make it easy to get back in there between the frame and the wheel/tire to install it.. This wrench has no problem breaking loose lug nuts that were previously fastened via an air powered impact wrench. Spins them off without issue. I mostly use it on the fastest setting, as I'm not using it for shorter, more delicate fasteners or bolts, but a couple times when I wanted precision I popped it on low and it was nice having that slightly lowered torque and more controllability to ensure that I was able to tighten all of the lugs evenly, as the aftermarket wheels on my ATV are lug centric and not hub centric like the factory wheels are, so I was careful while tightening them on to keep everything even in the star pattern and as centered as possible, to avoid any damaged studs or speed wobble/vibrations. Aside from the two speeds, this also has a setting which senses when the fastener is spinning free, and it stops the wrench. I suppose this could be really useful for when you're working with nuts on a short stud, or maybe smaller fasteners and what have you, but I haven't had a use for it at all. All of the nuts or fasteners I've been removing, I want them to spin right off and into my hand. Still, doesn't bother me having the feature, you don't have to use it if you don't want to, and it's nice to have in case you should ever actually need it. In fact, I'm sure one day probably soon, it will come in handy and prevent me from sending a nut hotwheeling across the garage floor. Battery life is great. I popped one of my half dead 4.0 Ah LXT batteries that came with my hammer drill/impact driver drill/driver kit and have been using it on that battery ever since and haven't had to charge it yet. Still plenty of power. Mind you I'm not using this thing every day, but I use it maybe once a week or so, for a good period of time, and it's been a couple months. So there's no issues with this thing hogging up the juice. It's plenty conservative. All in all, give this thing a shot. If you don't need ALL of the torque in the world to bust off huge nuts off heavy duty contruction equipment that's been seized on there for centuries, you'll be plenty fine with this. Doing things like working on an ATV, removing or installing the wheels on a car/truck would be no problem as well. This things got plenty of oomph to get those jobs done.. The only time I think you'll end up wanting for more torque is something like a huge rusted 1" nut/bolt that's been seized for years, sitting out in the elements and through the seasons. Anything other than that, this Makita will have you covered. And not having it be a huge honking beast of a massive son of a gun really helps for getting it where you need it to do the work.... ... show more

  • Strong for its size.
I purchased this with the only intention of using it too remove props on Mercury outboards and others. It works perfect for that. Its much lighter than other 1/2" impacts but it doesn't have the same torque as a larger impact. If you are buying a 1/2" impact with the intent of using it solely on lug nuts, this isn't the one for you. This impact is a great supplemental 1/2" impact for when you don't need the full torque of a larger impact. I have changed some trailer tires with it, but there are some lug nuts that it just doesn't have the strength to break. In summary, Great product for its size. Does a lot more than I was expecting, however it lacks the power/torque to do everything that most want. If you already have a larger 1/2" impact, this is a perfect add on to your toolbox. Much more compact than any other 1/2" impact. ... show more

  • Decent tool for the price
Nice lightweight tool, could have more power but great for what it is

  • Nice gun
If you are looking for a 3/8 gun that uses 1/2 sockets this is an excellent option.

  • Would recommend
Works great for large bolts and lug nuts. Slightly overpowered for Drilldo bits.

  • Won’t remove lugs torqued to 75 ft-lbs.
Should have read the other reviews prior to purchase but I didn’t because Makita has always has top notch stuff. This tool is a joke for a 1/2” impact. My 1/4” brushless makita will do what this does. It wouldn’t break loose 1/2-20 lug nuts torqued to 75ft-lbs. Just makes noise but doesn’t budge them. ... show more

  • Not for lugnuts
Not as powerful as I'd like. All it's good for is lag bolts and wood screws The 1/4" hex impact has more torque then this. But I do like the compact and feel of it. It's defiently not for bolts esp lugnuts
