The XRJ08 delivers 0 - 3,100 strokes per minute combined with a 7/8” stroke length for up to 55% faster cutting. It offers a low-vibration design that reduces operator fatigue with up to 40% less vibration (when compared to model number XRJ07ZXB). The loop-shaped handle offers rigidity for improved cutting efficiency. To aid in reducing operator fatigue, the One-Handed Recipro Saw weighs only 5.5 lbs. (with battery, sold separately). It has a built-in L.E.D. light that illuminates the workspace and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort. • It does the job extremely well
I had to prune some old trees, it shined with just 2 sets of 5Ah batteries, I was able to complete the job, close to 5 hrs of continuous work. It chewed branches 8-9 inch flawlessly. Very comfortable position. My arms are still like nothing, very low vibration.

  • Great as always and I love it!
It’s very well balanced and it gets the job done. It’s actually the second reciprocating saw and and I’m impressed with the results, control, handling and power! Definitely is worth the money!

  • Makita's Reciprocating Saw: A Symphony of Slicing Brilliance!
Oh, let me regale you with the epic tale of my encounter with the Makita Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw! This tool, my friends, is not just a saw; it's a magical wand that transforms mundane tasks into a whimsical journey of cutting delight. Firstly, let's talk about weight – or should I say, lack thereof? This saw is as light as a feather on a diet! I half-expected it to float away like a helium balloon when I first picked it up. It's like the unicorn of power tools, granting me the power to effortlessly wield it with the grace of a seasoned ninja. Maneuverability? It's like the Michael Jordan of the power tool world. I can practically dance around obstacles with this bad boy. I felt like a fencing maestro, gracefully parrying and thrusting my way through the toughest materials. PVC pipes quivered in fear as I approached, knowing their fate was sealed by the Makita's brushless brilliance. Now, let's discuss the cutting action – it's smoother than a jazz saxophonist sliding into a sultry riff. I sliced through pipes like a hot knife through butter, and PVC practically begged for mercy under the gentle touch of this reciprocating maestro. It's so smooth, I'm convinced it moonlights as a barber in its spare time. Battery life? It's like a marathon runner on an energy drink diet. I embarked on a cutting spree that would make Paul Bunyan blush, and the Makita didn't break a sweat. It's like the Energizer Bunny, but with more finesse and less drum-banging. And the noise! Or should I say lack thereof? This saw is quieter than a library during a power nap. I half-expected to hear a hushed "shhh" every time I revved it up. My neighbors probably thought I was practicing the art of silent sawing meditation. In conclusion, the Makita Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw is not just a tool; it's a symphony conductor orchestrating the most melodious cuts in the power tool repertoire. It's so good; I almost feel guilty not paying for tickets to watch its performance. Bravo, Makita, bravo! ... show more

  • Perfect addition to tool collection
Why have I not bought one of these sooner, I do not know! While Makita has been my husband’s and my favorite brand of power tool, I needed a reciprocating saw that had a center of gravity that would fit well in my small female hand. Although the XRJ08Z model weighs slightly more than its predecessors, I prefer its trigger location as well as how balanced it feels between the motor and the battery while in use. Personally, I use their larger capacity lithium battery packs which adds more weight to consider. However, I can easily use it single handed for certain situations, and of course, even easier with both hands. There’s a conveniently located trigger locking feature and a handy light source when engaged. The tool-only came with three blades: 8” wood, 6” all-purpose and 6” metal. ... show more

  • Light and powerful
Very easy to handle for those one handed jobs

  • Easy to use, effective
What a great tool! Being so easy to handle I reach for this every time instead of a heavy reciprocating saw. One handed of course. Great for trimming tree branches. Long stroke and high speed makes it very effective. Just a tetch difficult to use at a very slow speed for delicate jobs. I'm with one of the other reviewers who said, "Just buy it." ... show more

  • I'ts MAKITA Excellent Design and Comfortable
I purchased this for light branch pruning and removing, I used blades which I already had Not Makita blades. The saw did NOT overheat fits my hand well and is comfortable. I trimmed and cut off several branches none were larger then 4in diameter and the blade was 9in long. Cut easy and did not strain the tool. The blade did seem to dull sooner than I expected but again Not Makita blades actually they were Porter Cable blades which I had for a long time, not sure they even make them anymore. I have purchased an assortment of pruning blades different brands some carbide tipped but have not used them yet. I already had the battery since I have some other Makita 18v tools. ... show more

  • Well designed
Nice one handed sawz all. Low vibration, well balanced. Excellent for cutting pipe one handed. The stroke is shorter than my other Makita sawzall, but it still cuts quickly. The finger guard doesn't get in the way and is a nice feature over the Milwaukee one handed sawzall. If you're already established on the Makita 18v line, this saw is a great addition for your cordless tools. ... show more
