Great saw. I am tearing apart and rebuilding a 900 sq. ft. deck. I have 55 4 x 4 posts with the joists nailed to the posts underneath this thing. Using Diablo carbide 9" blades. 5 nails in most of the posts. This combination slices the nails like butter. Battery life is great. Saw is well balanced and not much vibration. I replaced my 20 year old corded sawzall with this one and wow, what a difference. The old one was a good one for its time and was / is a quality brand. I was cutting large roots with it and it was a chore. I got this today and it was at least 1/2 the time to cut the same amount. Much more power, fast cutting and no wires. Very happy with this. I bought this Sawzall to help demolish a 12'X32' storage shed, cut and trim small trees and brush stumps. It's got plenty of power and gets the job done quick. It's also heavy, but that's what I expected. One weak point that I found was the adjustable foot locking clamp/mechanism is poorly engineered. It's made of flexible plastic with two small metal tabs that go over the ends of the shaft that holds/allows the foot to be adjusted in length. On my Sawzall the plastic clamp, which has a lot of flex on the ends that connect to the shaft, came off causing the shaft locking the foot to fall out and the foot to fall off. It didn't seem worth fixing, as I'm sure it would have fallen off again. So I've simply just re-inserted the foot and the shaft that holds it and wrap a piece of tape round the front of the tool to keep the shaft from sliding out. I'm not using the clamp at all. In spite of this one flaw, I would buy this tool again. Hence four stars. ... show more

My wife is 4'5" and does a lot of yard work. While the standard size was too heavy and bulky for her to lift and maneuver this lighter and smaller version suited her fine. Build quality and durability is number one and we would happily purchase ofther Makita products in the future.

It is a cordless reciprocating saw. No brushes to ever replace. 16 Volt battery gives it big power. Highly recommended, if you already have Makita 16 volt tools, or are starting to acquire them. This is a professional tool. Built to perform and last. You can't go wrong.

Junk, plastic shoe fell off before use. This is a joke. Makita goes down the toilet with their products. No quality control. Making power tools like reciprocating saw with plastic, rubber and shoe laces. Makita sucks, their customer service is horrible. Rude, angry reps blow you off without resolving anything. China mass produced junk with no quality. There is one Makita tool 4 inch belt sander that is worth buying. But it is made in Japan. The rest waste of money. ... show more
