Description

Makita, a pioneer in Brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Recipro saw kit. It has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application, and is powered by the industry’s fastest charging 18V Lithium-Ion batteries. With Makita, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18V batteries on the XRJ05T As they use across the Makita 18V LXT cordless tool line-up. The XRJ05T is equipped with efficiency features for faster cutting. The long 1-1/4” stroke length increases cutting efficiency, and the refined crank mechanism design minimizes blade deflection and reduces vibration. Convenience features include an L.E.D. Light to illuminate the line of cut, a retractable tool hook, and “tool-less” blade Change for faster blade installation and removal. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls. Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol on the battery indicating Star protection inside.

  • sort of expensive, but, it is a great tool
Style: Recipro Saw Only
I have a Milwaukee, but it is corded. I should have bought a cordless one years ago, but finally did. sure is more convenient. Especially since my old corded one was the old type of blade fitting that needed an allen wrench to secure the blade. This one is great, super secure, easy, VS etc. Yeah, of course I have a dozen or more Makita tools, so plenty of batteries. ... show more

  • Very Useful For My Task
Style: Recipro Saw Only
I used this to cut many (medium and large, fallen and crushed) bamboo stalks -- like butter. Very useful. It will be great to cut down and cut up small trees and shrubs. Like any saw, everyone using it should be very careful. It has a sliding button and it's important to be sure it is in off position when not using. It could be dangerous as it is so efficient. I am a 67 year old woman. It is heavy but manageable. I like owning it. ... show more

  • Ain't no Ryobi!
Style: Recipro Saw Only
I've cut down 8" trees with this thing. It's got plenty of power and holds up well. Only downside is shared with most cordless options: you need multiple batteries to handle bigger jobs. But if you've got 3-4 batteries and a couple fast chargers like I do, you'll never have to wait on one to charge to keep working ... show more

  • Great little tool!
Style: Recipro Saw Only
OK, I am biased in favor of beautiful Makita stuff, virtually all the 18v stuff is great, but this little beauty really is flawless. I am a general contractor, so I need reliable tools I can beat on. Mostly used for remodeling, I am not usually sitting there cutting threaded rod all day, but for average day to day sawzall work it is absolutely stellar: compact, strong and light. The cordless aspect for a sawzall is an obvious choice: often you are on a ladder or in a tough position; this thing has been a real workhorse with virtually no drawbacks (OK, settings "1" and "2" are presumably used for wood and metal applications, but these settings don't seem much different from one another). Buy it! ... show more

  • Heavy built and good power and control
Style: Recipro Saw Only
Works great, rips through materials like you expect it to. Balanced so that not much vibration transmits to hands and arms.

  • Cut it!
Style: Kit w/ two 5.0Ah batteries
I bought this Sawzall to help demolish a 12'X32' storage shed, cut and trim small trees and brush stumps. It's got plenty of power and gets the job done quick. It's also heavy, but that's what I expected. One weak point that I found was the adjustable foot locking clamp/mechanism is poorly engineered. It's made of flexible plastic with two small metal tabs that go over the ends of the shaft that holds/allows the foot to be adjusted in length. On my Sawzall the plastic clamp, which has a lot of flex on the ends that connect to the shaft, came off causing the shaft locking the foot to fall out and the foot to fall off. It didn't seem worth fixing, as I'm sure it would have fallen off again. So I've simply just re-inserted the foot and the shaft that holds it and wrap a piece of tape round the front of the tool to keep the shaft from sliding out. I'm not using the clamp at all. In spite of this one flaw, I would buy this tool again. Hence four stars. ... show more

  • First rate reciprocating saw...
Style: Recipro Saw Only
Makita XRJ05Z This is my third reciprocating saw (Porter Cable & Milwaukee) and by far the best one ever. The only weakness is the front lever used to adjust the stop plate. It should NOT be made of plastic (nylon?). Aluminum or steel would be a big improvement. I'll just have to be careful to not break it off... ... show more
