  • Very nice tool, excellent quality and function.
Update: Today the tool started jamming and flipping screws. It was almost impossible to clear the jam. Several times it literally stuck to the wall. Lol. Rather than smash it to bits, I sat and looked it over. I learned that the tip is adjustable, Moving the tip out past the screws logically cleared the jamming and screw flipping issues. I had been using an old cordless Senco and then switched to a single screw Makita 18v when the batteries quit working. This tool is amazing. The build quality, function. It feels like a good firearm. The folding guide is magic. Great feature. The one thing I would mention that is a negative is not having the fasteners covered because this is a natural grab point when in an awkward position that requires two hands. Most of the issues that happen with these screw feeders are technique related. Basically, put the tip square to the wall, hold down the trigger until it’s at max rpm, push forward and back let off the trigger unless you’ve got the skills to hold it down and just mash screws in. One other thing, to sink screws properly I had to max the dial out. ... show more

  • Works When It Works, Jams Up More Often Than Not.
Everytime you go to drive in a screw you have the anxiety of the gun jamming or working. If you do not aim it perfectly at 90 degrees count on it to jam or drive the screw in only half way. It doesnt only jam but will stop halfway leaving the screw to be finished with an impact driver or removed and try again. Reasons I have found for jamming is not being 90 degrees to the surface, screws on strip work their way backwards and the scerew head gets stuck and wont feed. Sometimes the auto feed will get out of sink and the screw feeds in missing the hole and jamming.Even if you use perfect technique and operate it as perfectly as possible it is possible for it to jam. Sometimes the strip will bend and the screws tangle each other blocking the strip from feeding in. I used it to hang 800 sq ft of drywall and I am almost done but now screw is jamming where it will only press half way and stop. Haven't been able to fix this and may need to buy a different gun to finish job. Bottomline is this gun is awesome if it didn't jam at least 50% of the time. You can not rely on it and for over $200 tool only it should be a professional gun that lasts more than one job. Why is Makita even selling a product with obvious issues that are not acceptable as it defeats the entire purpose. Who wants a screw gun that works half the time and frustrates you the rest I would give it a 5 star rating when it is working and a negative 5 star for when it is not. If I did drywall everyday I wouldn't be able to use this gun. Currently it jams and only drives the screw half way in and I haven't been able to fix this issue. None of those issues are operator error except the 90 degree positioning. I would not buy it again because of the issues that are not ones that go away. It's a high maintnence tool that is not ready to have been released. Makita should recall it and replace it with one that works otherwise they are marketing something that doesn't perform. They don't tell you it will jam half the time buy at your own risk. Baffles me how it works so well then doesn't work. ... show more

  • Very handy tool to have
I bought my first Makita product 16 years ago, and it has been Makita tools ever since then. Any power tool you can probably think of I most likely have from Makita and they have yet to disappoint me. Now I have used other brands before, so I am aware of what is out there plus, Makita is on the pricier side, so I've definitely considered other brands, but one thing I've noticed with Makita compared to other brands is the consistency and repetitive durability. Initially bought for putting up fence pickets but has proven to be very useful for a lot of other projects ... show more

  • Jams constantly!
I'll start of by saying that I generally like Makita tools, I have found them to consistently be one of the best and most reliable brands. So when I decided to finish my basement, including hanging 1000 sqft of drywall, I got this auto-feed screw gun. I have never used it before, so I made sure to read the directions about how to set it up, and how to use it. When I got a lot of jams I assured myself that it was my inexperience causing the issues. After a couple of hundred screws, I can tell you that this product is flawed. When it works, it is amazing and saves a ton of time. However, I would say that I was typically getting multiple jams per collated screw strip. Once you have a jam the work stops. You have to pull the collated screw strip out, and then attempt to fish out the screws. The area where the jams collect is very tight, so it can be incredibly hard to get the screws out. If you have multiple jammed screws, then its any even bigger process now, because the screws are blocking each other from moving in the necessary direction to be able to be cleared. Honestly, with how many issues I have had, I think I wasted much more time than I saved. I'm sad to say it, but I'll be going back to a standard impact or screw driver. Wanted to like it, but can't recommend. Stay away! ... show more

  • Great gun all of my makita lineup still runs and I started it 5 years ago I use my tools everyday
It is very fast and awesome for the task it is designed for. I didnt relize how to adjust the gun for different size screws at first. But once I figured it out it was simple I had it on the wrong setting and they kept jamming up. Sometimes it miss-screws doing ceilings not sure what the cause Is I am still investigating. But its fast it's quite and when your holding 16' sheets of drywall over your head it is exactly what you need rather than the traditional drywall guns. It's very simple one handed operation and has a nice clip to clip on your belt or pocket while your on ladders and stagging never miss set a screw so far. I'm very interested in trying it on decking ... show more
