I purchased this to tear down a porch roof. This utility saw has impressed me with it's durability, ergonomics and power. A word of caution first. Like many other utility saws, is heavy. Fortunately, the grips are ergonomic and comfortable to use. I've been impressed with the narrow foot on this saw which has allowed me to easily cut at odd angles and through tight spaces. I’ve been working in residential remodeling for 25 years. This is the best recipe saw I’ve ever used. My old Super Sawzall finally died and I went to buy another. Salesman at my supplier said don’t buy it, they’ve changed and everyone is complaining about them breaking. I didn’t listen and bought one and sure enough both the blade holding clamp and the guide stop broke quickly. So I got this. It’s vastly superior. Stronger, easier, one handed blade clamp. Stronger, easier guide stop. Stronger motor. Better orbital selector, which has multiple settings and is protected from impact. And the anti-vibration is for real and is great, making the saw considerably less powerful than it is. As for the weight, this is a powerful, durable professional grade saw. If you need to do what it does, it’s not too heavy. If you don’t, buy something else or if it’s too heavy you should frankly not be doing this kind of work. ... show more

The Makita recip saw worked great for the job. I needed to take a wooden roof off a wooden shed. Working above my head seemed dangerous. The Makita allowed me to cut manageable sections off and bring down the pieces safely. The saw was heavy and I thought it was too much for someone my size. Bought it to cut out some drywall, wood and ABS. Made an awkward job much easier. Comes with 2 saws. Tried to buy a plastic box to store it, but difficult to track one down. Mine had a hanging hook which works well. Usual high quality Makita product.
