Description

The Makita 10-1/4" Circular saw (HS0600) cuts 4x material in a single pass. It has a large cutting and bevel capacity (3-13/16 inches at 90 degrees and 2-11/16 inches at 45 degrees), with precision gearing and ball and needle bearing construction for smooth and efficient power transmission. Convenience features include an adjustable top guide to Align notches with line-of-cut for improved accuracy, and auxiliary front and top handles positioned for comfort and control. The blade wrench is attached to the saw for fast blade changing, with a Flat motor housing design for added convenience. The large, conveniently-located adjustment knobs and levers are engineered for easier adjustments. The HS0600 has a magnesium die cast blade case and blade guard, and aluminum base for durability and less weight (only 15.2 pounds).

I got this saw at an amazing deal. It was way cheaper than what it was going for in the big box department stores. This saw is a beast. It gives you so many more possibilities and it’s big!!! An excellently balanced saw. We use the 7 1/4” cordless 36v and the 16 5/16” beam saw often and decided to add this one to the lineup too. It’s a favorite in our timber frame and furniture workshop already. It’s much nicer to operate then the makita larger beam saw. Doesn’t feel under powered. Stable. Easy to make accurate cuts with. Reasonable size and weight. Nice features such as oversized blade guide handle which makes it super easy to raise it out of your way during the cut. Angle adjustment feels solid. Good ergonomics. Big fan of makita, especially since my last 3 Dewalts were misaligned due to faulty machining. I'm concerned about the Chinese manufacturing of this saw, and it's lifespan. I've got a whole line of makita tools from 45 years ago that still work great! So hopefully the brand has kept up its performance standards and quality. ... show more

Makita HS0600 10-1/4" Circular Saw is a great saw for everyday rough cutting. Good Value and great for cutting 3 1/4 in Claro Black Walnut Live Edge Solid Hardwood Slabs. Saw is good balance but very loud and a lot of vibration without dust collection system. The motor is powerful enough to plow through the toughest oak and rip cutting a length of hardwood like Claro Black Walnut. Do not push harder to feed faster and avoid the burn marks. 24tooth blade may not be the best blade for precision ripping or cross cuts, but can do both effectively. Nothing compare with $835.00 FESTOOL Plunge Cut Track Saw TS 75 EQ-F-Plus-FS but it is still a great saw at $299 with free Makita A-94910 10-1/4-Inch Tungsten Carbide Tip Saw Blade, 24-Teeth $31.64 value for quick cutting with very little splinter. Highly recommend Freud D1040W Diablo 10-1/4-Inch 40 Tooth ATB General Purpose Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch and Diamond Knockout Arbor for more efficient cutting. 4 Stars due to the saw blade out of square and not able to align to 90 degrees. Woodpeckers Precision Woodworking Square clearly shown the Makita HS0600 10-1/4" Circular Saw bed plate is always working it's way out of square to the blade. Not a deal breaker for rough cutting live edge solid hardwood slabs and always use FESTOOL Plunge Cut Track Saw TS 75 EQ-F-Plus-FS for final dimension or joining. ... show more

    • A table saw you can carry around
I bought a bowling alley floor to turn into a work bench. At 10' x 42" it weighed more than three of us could carry. I decided to rip it into thirds, plane it and reassemble it on the benchwork. At 3 1/2" thick this was the only way to do that easily. I was very impressed at how a saw that is the same diameter as my StopSaw was able to cut through this big floor like butter AND remain well in my control. I used a 40T blade and it made a very clean cut. I will run it back through the real table saw with a multi-material blade (nails nails nails!) at some point to clean up the cut, but that is largely a function of my unwise decision to try and cut at the seams. Having not ripped a bowling alley floor before, I didn't realize why that was a bad plan. I would say this saw is capable of cutting about anything you throw at it. ... show more

I was torn between a BigFoot conversion for my old SkilSaw, but I decided to go for the multiple saws option. Being only a little more than the cost of a BigFoot, I was concerned it may feel "cheap", but it has the heft and solid feeling such that I'm not concerned. It had plenty of power to rip cut 6x's and scare the hell out of me when it bound. I like the grinder handle for the foregrip and the oversized guard lever is convenient too. Only bad thing I have to say is about the trigger unlock; it's recessed so you need to twist your hand to depress it, putting your hand in kind of an awkward position to control the saw. That and the 0° wasn't perfect (as other reviews have noted). Just need to square it up beforehand. I wish I had the option to buy a case for it since I won't use it very often (that's the only time I'll say that as I usually throw them away). ... show more
