  • Very bright long lasting
This cordless light is a Godsend when doing intricate work under your car. I already had a Makita Impact with 2 batteries so this was a no brainer, and the battery lasts a long time in this light.

  • Does the job. I'd change the light color though
The tool does the job, and does it for a long time when paired with Makita battery. It feels durable, although I haven't had a chance to seriously abuse it. There's fair amount of light. I was expecting more light, but this may be subjective. If I could change something, I would prefer if the light was a bit warmer. ... show more

  • Lasts a long time on a 5 Amp battery
I bought to use as a portable fly tying light. Works great, and so long lasting that I use it like it was plugged in. Not quite as tall as I needed, but it is very easy to sit it on top of a brick or thick book to get it at the elevation I need above my vise. Now I can move my vise anywhere, tie flies while watching TV, etc.of course it also works as a quality shop light. ... show more

  • A fantastic go-to light if you have the Makita LXT Tools
Bought this and the Makita DML806 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless L.E.D. Lantern/Flashlight Tool. Have a really hard time picking favorites, but decided to buy a second of these for work based on it's extreme usefulness. If you don't need something to double as a lantern, this is the way to go. It's also $20 cheaper, although still priced quite high for a flashlight. If you don't have the Makita batteries and charger, this is an insanely expensive light that totally isn't worth the money. If you do have the Makita LXT tools and batteries, you probably already know how great they work. You probably also have a spare battery at least partially charged ready to go. Being able to snap a battery on at a moments notice makes this a really great tool. If you've ever went for several flashlights only to find all are dead and require 3 AAA batteries to be changed you know the hassle. The light swivels in just about any direction you could ask for, and makes it really fantastic for directing a bright, cool to the touch light (as much as the smell of oil burning on a 75 watt bulb sets the mood). The hook makes it great for the hood, and the size of the light neck allows it to fit into tight spaces. It has a great grip that's always easy to hold and not lose control of. Many of the metal flashlights, including the Xtreme Bright Multipurpose Work Light & Lantern; Hands-Free Retractable Automotive LED Light Bar Attaches To Any Metal Surface. More Than A Basic Handheld Flashlight -Ultimate Camping Lantern are difficult to hold. The Makita has a great grip, and also has the battery pack weight on the bottom to keep it standing on most flat surfaces. ... show more

  • Great lught
This is my 4th one. Has enough light to battle darkness a few hours before the rest of the world wakes up. Great for getting an edge by working before and after. Great for paining, drywall, mechanicing, plumbing, electrical… …can’t think of any situation that isn’t made better. First one LEDs started flashing after 4 yes of heavy use . Second one took a plunge in Colorado River while stupidly working on a dock @ 05:30 am. Water was too cold to dive for it, when it was recovered, it was covered through Orange box store. It took a while but battery was replaced as well. Tip : 3ah battery $90.00 will power this light & is much less expensive to replace than a 5ah $150.00 Lost 3rd one, left on bumper and was home before I noticed it gone. Backtracked my steps, someone already picked it up within 12 minutes. Im gonna be disappointed when they discontinues this awesome light. Need to get a cabinet full of these. I am definitely sold on Makita. Great products, from my 50+ GA7911 to my newest. They just last, no duds. Not disposable like certain yellow or red ones. ... show more

  • Great portable light
This is a great little light. The battery base makes it very stable, and the light head twists and points in any direction, so you can set it down on any flat surface and then point the light right where you need it. I've probably run it 5-6 hours so far, and the 5 amp battery is still showing 3 out of 4 bars of life remaining. So basically this thing will go all day on one charge. ... show more

  • My favorite light
I like these so much I just bought a second one. The first had the old part number, but I can't see any other difference between the two. I also have the DML802, also a nice light. If I had to choose between the two, I'd take the 801 because it is more versatile. The articulated head and two power settings make it possible to use the light to illuminate a room, as a table lamp, a flashlight, or for project illumination. On high it is very bright, and also very usable on low.The light spreads out quite a bit, like a flood light. If you need a more focused beam, go for the DML802. This light stands up well, and the built in foldable hook is very handy for creating room illumination or for hanging under a car hood. Folding the head down against the handle protects the lens somewhat and turns the whole light into a smaller package.for storage or travel. For the price, I'd like to see a carry case. The switch is a bit odd in that it faces the palm side of the handle, much more awkward than putting it in the trigger position. In the trigger position it would be blocked when the head is folded down, which may explain the location. I'd rather see it there anyway. As with most Makita 18v devices, this is way too expensive for anyone who has not already invested in Makita batteries. ... show more
