Description

The Makita 5” dry masonry saw is a powerful dry-cutting solution for tile, masonry and concrete. It combines a powerful 13 amp motor with a dust extraction port for improved dust extraction. The 4100KB will cut up to 1-9/16" at 90 degrees, and accepts contour blades for increased versatility in radius cutting applications. For added convenience, the saw attaches to an optional guide rail (198673-2, sold separately) for improved cutting accuracy. Additional features include 1-3/8” dust extraction port that swivels 360 degrees, dust-protected trigger, and lock-on button for continuous operation.

    • Cuts quartz countertop like butter
I had a crazy idea - cut my existing 3 yr old kitchen island in half indoors to open up space. I needed something that (1) could cut quartz quickly (2) had good dust management (this is inside out kitchen). This thing (with the 'Hard' diamond blade) cut through 2cm quartz like butter with absolutely no visible chipping. I squirted a tiny amount of water every now and them at the blade where it was sparking to keep it cool. With a shop-vac attached to the dust port it kept dust down to a bare minimum. In total i made 40 linear ft of cuts in 2cm thick quartz before the blade started to feel just a little harder to push - there's still plenty of life left in the blade. The shop-vac collected about 3- 4 lbs of quartz dust. About 2 oz of water was used as a coolant overall. I never tried the 'universal' blade that came with it, instead i used the Makita 5" Diamond Hard blade. A few other points: 1. Saw is light enough to freehand cut vertical surfaces, plunge cuts easy 2. Vibration is non-existent 3. Noise is very manageable (with ear protection) 4. Blade change is easy 5. Depth adjustment is easy 6. Cut is readily visible as sparks emanate from the cutting edge 7. Kickbacks were non-existent (except when i did something foolish) I'm done with it so it's getting cleaned and listed on e bay . ... show more

    • Good saw, dust collection is poor
The saw works great and is easy to use. I would say for the hobbyist this is a fine saw, and for most jobs the included blade should be fine (cut through granite perfectly). For the pro it is decent enough for quick cuts on a jobsite, but for the longer cuts that require precision, more control over RPMs, or deeper cuts (this one can handle a 1 1/2" deep cut max) then find something else. While the dust collection bag does collect dust, there was dust everywhere after cutting. Use outside only, and keep those without masks and eye protection out of the area - especially children and pets. ... show more

Good powerful grinder, used for cutting veneer stone and backer boards. When paired with my Festool vac system, it can eliminate much of the dust. Good solid purchase.

20+ years of stone counter install/fabrication. I've been searching and researching for this saw and track plate. Alpha's Eco cut has nothing on this. Motor is solid. Will cut through 3cm (1¼") material. The Makita track plate adapter fits the saw perfectly. Just make sure to read all instructions to fit the saw tightly in the plate. Saw and guide work on a Festool track as well. The hinge on the saw has a tiny bit of slop so if your ripping tops for a seam be sure to slightly piviot or block up the saw motor from the base to keep at 90°. The blade that comes with it, I haven't used. I put a diamond electroplated marble blade on it. No chip on quartz material. Smooth straight cut. Makes for fitting pieces on 286 unit project faster and easier. ... show more
