Works great. And having had made my own foundry before I can say this is a cost effecteve way to start. A 20lb tank on this size refined about 30 gal of crushed cans. Tho because of the size of the crucible i recomend crushing the cans with a hammer. It is strong enough to melt copper but it can be slow. I'm very surprised the clay crucible and the ceramic parts arrived in tact. Didn't use the ceramic hardener but it would have been a good idea. The tongs are decent but the detachable handles are made of aluminum. If you get this kit and don't have anything else also get a ceramic plate to set your crucible on wile switching tongs and welding gloves. ... show more

Good product for the price. The ceramic " fire brick" that came with it is actually just a thin flat disc that broke almost immediately on the first use. I replaced it with half of a real fire brick that my son used on his forge. I suggest seasoning the crucible somehow first because metal is sticking to ours and I'll find some way to fix that. ... show more

This forge is exactly what I was looking for. Easily portable but still sturdy enough to handle being moved around. I have used it several times to melt down aluminum over the last 3 weeks with no issues. It was well packaged but the crucible had a decent size chip and a thin crack despite being completely surrounded in foam and bubble wrap. When I contacted the manufacturer I received a response within 24 hours and the replacement crucible arrived within a few days. Awesome customer service!
