  • Fun Craft Project
This kit is very similar to other Greenleaf dollhouse kits. I find the instructions easy to follow, and everything that was supposed to be in my kit was in the box when it arrived. Box comes with the wood sheets, instructions, window panes, faux brick siding, and sand paper. These kits are really fun to put together, but don't expect to put it together overnight; painting takes a long time. The completed houses are intended for adults; they contain many small pieces, so the finished product is not reccommended for a child to play with ... show more

  • Wood is cheap and easily breaks
I first bought this here and tho UPS showed delivered, I never got it. Ended up getting it somewhere else. But letting people know it's not worth the money. So much of the wood railings, walls, stairs, etc broke apart trying to get them out of the boards they came on. The instructions should have pictures to help the builder too but there's none and this company's customer service is horrible. Don't waste your time or money. ... show more

  • Beautiful House; Make sure you get instructions
This house is designed to be glued together. Tabs fit into slots and are held with wood glue, so you don't need nails. You will need instructions, which didn't come with the kit I bought on Amazon. The seller said contact the mfr and they were able to email them to us. We got the kit on a Friday & the mfr wasn't open 'til Monday, so we'd figured the main structure out by the time we got the instructions, but it was nice to have the ornamental pieces labelled. The plastic sheet that had the window pieces was missing. Again, the seller said contact the mfr, who offered to replace it for $6. We passed. We found a great miniature dollhouse community online for advice and used their photos to put the structure together. It's a full scale house (1"=1'), which is nice because regular dollhouse furniture will fit. There's no siding, but my daughter preferred that because it was easier for her to paint. It's a nice size house with large rooms. The porches and trim detail give it a lot of character. It was relatively quick to assemble (with instructions it would be very easy). The roof is the most time consuming because we're glueing a couple rows of shingles on at a time (3 or 4 shingles at a time) to keep them from warping. Overall an excellent house. I give it a 4 because I wish the shingles were a little thicker to prevent warping & make installation easier. I give the mfr a 2 for not including the instructions and trying to sell us the missing window panes instead of replacing them, and the seller a 3 for directing us to the mfr and not replacing the missing windows or locating instructions for us. Their customer service could have been much better. Contact the seller first, though, to make sure all the pieces are inside the box (we were fortunate our missing piece was only decorative, not structural) and maybe the mfr as well to make sure you can still get assembly instructions. ... show more

  • Low quality but for a crafter, still fun to work on
I make dollhouses for fun and have tried products from Real Good Toys before. Their stuff is VERY high quality but also way too expensive so I decided to try this product from Greenleaf after reading many reviews for the brand. First time choosing Greenleaf's dollhouses so don't know if every other product of theirs is like this. But the wood is rather bad quality and will chip off as I am sanding and even while painting; some would warp and others just snap break. Speaking of which, LOTS of sanding needed, and even then, the pieces won't fit exactly together especially at the corners - there'd be space and I would have to fill them all with glue; other than that right angle fits would have tabs and slots for the pieces to fit together. With Real Good Toys dollhouses you don't even need to sand and everything fits and stays perfectly without tabs. About the packaging, it arrived opened, the shingles were spilt everywhere, don't know if any other thing fell out during shipping & handling. The item was just packed in a plain box not a product box, so there weren't any large/clear product picture to refer to for assembly. It does come with printed instructions (and a separate manual), but the picture on there is very small and blurry and just in black and white. The worded instruction and illustrations are separate so it's hard to follow. Also, there are just mostly illustrations of what the pieces are on the sheets (the product came in sheets of wood and you break the pieces out along precut lines) which does come in handy, but not many illustrations are of the actual assembly steps, so again just makes it difficult to figure out. A side note for aesthetics: the instruction packet is just printed sheets of paper stapled together at a corner, not even a legit booklet; makes me feel like everything is just very cheaply made and ineptly prepared. I would like to point out that this product by Greenleaf is about the same price as one of the simpler Real Good Toys dollhouses I have if not slightly more expensive, the only difference is that it has a nicer architectural design. I would not accept the argument that "You get what you pay for" in this case seeing that Real Good Toys can still deliver quality product and packaging for a lower price. Exchanging design for significantly lower quality does not seem to be a fair trade. Unrelated to the product, I bought it from the seller Best Service Stores and tried to contact them twice with the same question. First time they replied but didn't address what I was asking them about, contacted them again and never heard from them since. Overall I would NOT say I'm satisfied with the product nor the experience, it just gives me something crafty to work with for some time. I would order Greenleaf stuff again just for the cheaper price for a dollhouse to work on, but for anything else - product quality, seller experience, product packaging, etc. - maybe not. ... show more

  • GREAT HOUSE
I built the Beacon Hill about 31 years ago for my daughter (it was destroyed in a house fire). Now, I'm building the Magnolia for my granddaughter. It's hard to find store fronts that sell miniature items such as siding and shingles, etc. Everything is online and adds shipping costs. And, its about 3X the price. But, its a good product and I'm excited to get started. ... show more
