This is a useful device for photographing objects, large documents, kids' artwork, you name it. It feels solidly built, and the ring light is a creative solution for getting direct lighting in line with a smartphone camera instead of at an off-axis angle that can create shadows. It has a heavy base that keeps this tall stand (more than 5 feet when extended to its maximum height) from becoming unstable. In fact, it's big enough that I would recommend keeping the box it ships in so it can be disassembled and stored in a less conspicuous place when not in use. The stand's LED light is powered by a USB A cable that can be routed along the movable arms using two built-in cable clips to keep it from dangling in view of your phone's camera. The cable has a small inline control module that contains the light's on/off switch and some brightness controls that step through multiple brightness levels. You can also select one of three color temperatures: warm, soft white and cool white. The power cable isn't very long, so I used a power bank with USB ports to avoid using a wall charger. A wall charger would require using the stand close to an AC outlet or an extension cord, which isn't always convenient. Since the light draws very little power, a decent sized power bank can keep it on for many hours, depending on its capacity. For example, I used a 20,000 mAh unit that only used about 7% of its capacity after more than 8 hours of use. The construction quality feels very good, and the adjustable arms can be moved around and height adjusted to photograph pretty much any object. The circular light fixture has a strong magnetic disc its center that holds your phone such that the screen is pointing downward if you use it as it comes out of the box. That would require the use of the phone's front camera, which is not always capable of the best quality photos. Fortunately, you can flip the magnet 180 degrees so you can use your phone's rear (best) camera, and this position also means that the phone isn't hanging from the magnet, but is safely resting on top of it instead. Speaking of the magnetic disc, it was able to very securely hold an iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max without their cases while using their rear cameras. I could also attach both phones to the magnet with their cases on, but the magnet isn't quite as strong in this case Both of these phones are relatively heavy, so I had to tighten the adjustment knob for the light fixture quite a bit to keep the phone/light ring from gradually drooping. The stand comes with a tiny but very handy Bluetooth remote shutter device that, once paired with your phone, allows you to take pictures without having to touch the phone and disturb carefully composed shots. There is also an adhesive-backed metal ring you can stick on the back of your phone if the magnet isn't working for you, but I didn't want to do this for fear of never being able to remove it - it's a strong adhesive. Perhaps a cleaner solution would be to get a case with a built-in metal ring instead. In summary, this is an excellent product for making still photos of items with proper lighting, and presumably for video recordings (although I didn't test it for videos). Shadows have a way of intruding when holding a phone by hand, so I'm happy to report that no shadows were visible when using this stand. Images really do look more professionally captured, so I believe it will be a useful and valuable part of a home "photo studio".

This is a solid ring light with stand. It is the perfect size for traveling and I love how easy it is to set up. The stand is stable and easy to move around. This is a great versatile ring light and I can use it in many ways. Overall great quality and price point. I hope this review is helpful!

This is so close to be fabulous. It is so versatile, and I love the magnetic holder. Omg. Life changing. Two things are keeping it from being perfect: 1) it’s very shaky. I have tightened it as tight as it can be and it still shakes very easily and often shows in my recording and 2) the light has to be plugged in to work, there is no charging option. So that limits its mobility. When it is on, it is a nice bright color (although not adjustable). And if you don’t need to use the light, the cord still dangles there annoyingly. In theory you can tuck it in, but that was not user friendly. It’s good stand, but not quite there yet

After a lot of looking and not finding the kind of phone stand I was looking for…I finally came across this one. This ring light phone stand has exceeded my expectations. It is extremely easy to put together, it only took me a couple of minutes to take it out of the box and begin using it. It is very versatile and can be adjusted to use up high or down low. The light itself has three different light modes so you can make it more yellow or more blue, and the light can also be adjusted to be brighter or dimmer. I love how the base was designed; it has a heavy bottom plate that keeps it upright. It’s heavy enough to keenly from falling over but still easily movable. It also comes with a remote to control it while using. It holds the phone well and can handle different sized phones. Overall it’s a great stand if you like making videos with your phone.

This ring light has more features than my old one, and there’s lots to like. Firstly, that magnet! The old “stretch and clamp” way of holding the phone was cumbersome to say the least. This is so much better! You even get a super adhesive magnet to stick on your phone case if you need it. Next, the many choices you have for brightness and color of light! Choose cool, cooler, or warm. The stand (not really a tripod) is easy setup and very stable. The base feels like you’ve got your heaviest cast iron pan holding this steady, and believe me, it’s not going anywhere! What I like most, though, is since the beginning of ring lights, they’ve mostly been associated with content creators, but as designs evolve, they’re proving to be quite versatile in portrait photography! A ring light well-placed can stand in for a larger box light, and offer so much more flexibility. The adjustable stand is great with your phone securely in place, but equally useful in creating beautiful portraits with traditional 35mm film or digital cameras.
