Insisted on this model (Magic Chef 1.1cf, 1,000 watt) as it most closely matched my previous Magic Chef which died after 18 years. Outer dimension slightly smaller footprint which was great for counter space. New one has different turntable rotater which is kind of jerky and noisy until it gets going but then smooths out and quiets itself. Wattage of interior light is apparently less than previous oven - darker and harder to see what's going on inside also don't care for the gray interior which I think contributes to the inside dimness ( old one had white interior). HOWEVER, it works great, cooks quickly and reliably and I'm very happy with my purchase. I hope it lasts at least 1/2 as long as its predecessor and I will be thrilled. ... show more

I owned the same model Magic Chef microwave in white for several years. I liked it so much that when I needed to replace it with a stainless steel oven, I bought the stainless steel version of the same model number. Unfortunately, I found out that in the few years since I bought the white oven, the design has been changed, in my opinion to cut costs. The main visible change is in the turntable mechanism. The old oven had a metal post that the glass platter locked into and a simple plastic roller ring under the platter. The new model has a combination plastic roller ring and post; the ring's plastic post fits onto a D-shaped metal post in the oven. The glass platter doesn't lock into the roller ring at all--it just sits on it, depending on friction (?) to turn the platter. To me, this seems like an inferior design compared to the old oven. I wonder how long the plastic ring will hold up and how well the platter will turn as the little wheels wear over time. The other cheap thing about the design is, the only stainless steel on the unit is a thin ring around the front of it. The rest of the exterior is black metal or plastic. Note that the stainless steel oven is about $35 more than the white oven--that seems like a big markup for a thin ring of stainless steel! On the plus side, the controls are the same as the old oven's, which is one of the main reasons I bought the new oven--they're very easy to use. I like this oven for its controls and power (1000 W) for its size, but frankly, had I known about the cost cutting on the latest model, I probably would have bought something else. ... show more
