I know, I know - every year people always claim “this is the worst Madden ever”. I read that every year and roll my eyes every year. There are always issues with the game each year, but I always end up enjoying it. I’ve been buying Madden since ‘94 on Sega. I’ve enjoyed it every year. Until now. This is legitimately the worst Madden game I’ve ever played. It’s so frustrating that just listed it for sale on Amazon for a fraction of what I paid. I figured that would save more money than buying a new TV when I throw my controller through it out of frustration. What specifically is so bad? - The new player motion doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel tight. It feels very clunky and jerky. - Forget trying to run the ball. Speed burst creates no separation. Running between the tackles? Nope, if you get within 3 feet of a defender you are instantly tackled. - Forget throwing the ball. Have 3-4 steps on the DB? So what? Intercepted. Oh, you’re 15 yards deeper than the LB? Who cares? He’s Superman and can leap buildings in a single bound. Intercepted. - Injuries happen every third play. Even with the slider turned down to 10. I bought the game the day it released. I tried to give it a month, thinking maybe I just needed to adjust. I’m a Madden veteran, I know it takes time to adjust to the new mechanics and features. But I can’t take it anymore. This game is way too frustrating. So, yeah. Great game. So much fun. Keep up the great year you’re having EA. ... show more

Worst madden I’ve played. On defense you can’t cancel a players individual responsibility with out the screen getting stuck zoomed out and when you reset the view, your player commits an encroachment. Any time you commit a turnover on offense , your player will get stuck in an animation of throwing a fit while the defense is running the ball back. Injuries are EA Sports favorite thing this year. I played franchise with the 49ers .. and in one game Jimmy G, McKinnon, Joe Staley and Reuben Foster all go out with critical injuries ... in a single game tho?! This happens often, too. Dropped passes on nicely thrown balls . Constantly throwing post pattern plays , lead the WR with a man trailing ... the ball hits the WR in the hands , the animation shows a catch.... then contact is made from behind and the ball just falls out of the WRs hands... incomplete. Every game you can count on this happening multiple times . I hit the same route twice in a row with the game doing this with Julio Jones... but you can surely count on any pass thrown remotely close to a defensive player that he’ll catch it for an INT! Why madden got the defense with better hands than the offense ?! Makes no sense . This real motion BS is ... garbage . If you go over replays you’ll see that the player speed of non-controlled players are faster than the player you are controlling simply from the motion of their running . You’ll see your WR running routes and as soon as they catch it , their speed drops noticeably. It is a cool concept , but it really causes some major game play issues . This game is complete garbage. The AI is way overpowered. Linemen play is totally nonexistent. Everybody moves like they are covered in glue. Wait until Dec when they release all the updates to finally make this a playable game. EA paying a bunch like for fake reviews to boost up that star rating before the holidays I see ... show more

Buggy and boring. This is what happens when you have a monopoly on a certain game and have no competition. Hands down the worst Madden game yet. Pretty much they’ve realized they can spew out one improved game every three years and keep their audience because they own the sport.

Went from '17 to this and can't believe how cheesy this runs and reacts and just is, period - like an old arcade game from the 80's only worse. It's the same '17 game, only worse. - How do you put this game together, play it, then release it knowing it's mediocre? Last time I ever pre-order an EA game. Will always wait for reviews from now on before $60+ purchase! ... show more

Simply put, it is not fun. I saw the reviews were bad, but I haven't played Madden for about 4-5 years and I had an itch. This game was awful. Not realistic. Defense doesn't watch the quarterback, you throw to lead them, and defense will speed boost 5 yards to intercept it and they didn't even see the ball .2 seconds ago. This terrible game is the biproduct of Madden owning the rights to NFL and not having any other football games to compete against it. Don't buy. ... show more
