• Great for more than new tattoos
Scent: Vanilla Coconut
Bought this to help heal my new tattoo. There is a lot in the tin. I applied multiple times a day, and barely made a dent. A month later I've caught a nasty cold. My nose is so raw from tissue use (even ultra soft lotion tissues aren't helping). Out of desperation I tried Mad Rabbit Balm on my nose. Worked so well! Also worked on my shaving burn. Pros: Subtle pleasant fragrance is not overpowering A little goes a long way Works on any skin irritation besides just tattoos Cons Slightly gritty when first applying and that can cause discomfort applying to your new tattoos. Rub between hands before applying to newly tattooed area. ... show more

 • Excellent tattoo moisturizer
Scent: Frankincense & Lavender
Bought product for my girlfriend’s first arm tattoo. This product keeps her tattoo moist and with vibrant colors. Not an overwhelming scent and made of natural products.

 • This stuff is great!
Scent: Vanilla Coconut
I started getting tattoos a couple years ago, and initially was unsure what to use. First tattoo artist just said use Aquaphor, and that worked alright, but nobody gave any advice on longer term care other than to “stay out of the sun”. I live in a sun-drenched area so that isn’t exactly ideal - or even possible - and I don’t like long sleeves in warm weather. And besides, I don’t know too many people that get a tat and then want to keep it hidden most of the time (there are exceptions, of course). So, I did a lot of reading and searching. The one product that kept coming up and seemed universally respected by dermatologists, artists, and tattoo magazines alike was Mad Rabbit’s tattoo balm. So, I gave it a try and ordered one each of the two scents. I didn’t care for the lavender/frankincense, but the vanilla coconut was perfect. Not feminine (more neutral - this would smell good on anyone), and not strong, so you don’t feel like you’re rubbing perfume or cologne onto yourself. What about moisturizing? I’ve never had dry/patchy skin in the areas that I use this, and I don’t even apply it every day. It does come out of the tin a little thick but even their directions indicate you should warm/melt it a bit between your fingers before applying. If you do this, it goes on easier/smoother, but I’ve also just smeared a bit across where I want it and waned it with my hand a little before massaging it in, and that works, too. My skin likes this stuff and I have had zero allergic reactions to it. So, does it make the tats pop/brighten them? Well, my tats are all < 3 years old, so I can’t give a full review on this point, but I will say that all of my tattoos die pop just a little bit more when using this. The phoenix (red/orange/yellow tones) on my arm looks great, and it’s about a year old, but it is even more vibrant when I apply this. When I put this on my visible tats, people have noticed and commented. My oldest black tat, that doesn’t get much sun, looks bolder as well. So, I’m going to say if I were to bet on it, I would bet confidently that this will do the same but more for my tats as they age, get exposed to sun, etc. I see some people here trying to use this for fresh ink. I would say hold off on that. This is thick and you will have to put strain on freshly inked skin to rub this in, and run the risk of pulling of scabs and peeling skin before your healing is complete. You don’t want to do that and run the risk of damaging/ruining your awesome new piece. There are lots of products for after care on fresh ink, but if you are sold on this company, their Repair Soothing Gel is pretty great. I used it on the last of my 3 tats - the largest one yet - and in 14 days it looked and felt like it was healed to the point it took my others 21-28 days to get to. It also soothes any itching/burning and locked in moisture but still let the skin breathe. Pretty impressive, and I will be using it on future ink for sure. If you aren’t happy with what you’re using and are looking for something else, check it out. You won’t be sorry you did. ... show more

 • Great moisturizing
Scent: Vanilla Coconut
Mad rabbit products are overall great! I don't feel like they do something astounding from other healing & moisturizing products but it smells great and does do its job. A little goes a long way so it last for quite a bit too, which is good because it's not cheap.

 • It's ok
Scent: Frankincense & Lavender
I was excited to try this product. It smells wonderful. It's hard to find one that doesn't smell like coconut. It goes on nice, but it doesn't really work on brighting older tattoos. I can put lotion on and get the same effect. Lotion costs less. Sorry to say but it's not for me.

 • Exceeded my expectations
Scent: Vanilla Coconut
I’m very picky about the products I use on my tattoos because I have supremely sensitive skin and I’m a bleeder which can lead to infections. I got the soothing gel and the balm and they are pretty dang good. The soothing gel felt so good and cool the first 3 days it helped with the inflammation and discomfort I was having fresh out the shop. When I switched to the balm on day 4 I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not a fan of most balms but it wasn’t greasy and actually worked better than I was expecting. I love this balm it’s gentle enough on my skin and tattoos but also super moisturizing for the little amount I use. A little really does go a long way. The tiny container for the balm is probably my only complaint I wish it came in a bigger tin. ... show more

 • Exactly what I was looking for!
Scent: Vanilla Coconut
Got a new large tattoo on my arm and everyone gave me a different answer on what to use for aftercare. I used Aquaphor but it would get all over my clothes and wipe off right away. I tried the mad rabbit vanilla one and I love it. I smell delicious, it a hard balm but starts melting on my skin as I rub it on, it doesn't get on my clothes and my skin is already starting to look better by the 2nd day. I will use this product daily forever to keep my tattoo looking fresh always. The consistency of this product is like a real coconut balm so it will melt on its way to you if you order it during the summer, so I suggest you put it in the fridge then keep it at room temperature after. Also, it's not going to magically make your tattoo vibrant as soon as you put it on, just like everything else, use it a couple time a day daily so your tattoo doesn't look so dry and dull which happens over time especially if you don't moisturize it everyday. ... show more
