  • Really wanted a great bluetooth enabled monitor and this does not disappoint
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
Bluetooth is very easy to pair to your device. We mainly pair it to a MacBook Air to work on music through Logic Pro, and sometimes even pair it to the flatscreen TV for listening to music or a movie. For music, the speakers really shine. Bass response is great. I probably would not use these for watching TV, as these speakers aren't really meant for dialogue and could use a center channel. And for movies, while the sound is great, it doesn't take advantage of surround sound. One question I can't answer is whether to get this vs the 5" or 3" models. I enjoy the power on the 8", but it may not be worth the additional money. ... show more

  • Best bang for your buck
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
I bought these to use as regular speakers not for music production, but they sound great. Like many reviews have said they are a little heavy on the bass but otherwise have a very flat response curve. The only issue I have with them is distortion at near max volume which I barely use them at so it isn’t much of a problem. The Bluetooth is a great extra feature and for the money you’re not going to find anything better, especially new. ... show more

  • Touchy volume with crips sound.
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
The volume knob is a bit touchy, sometimes the difference between sublte trebble and a crisp blast is a slight touch and can take a bit to readjust if it was too far. Other than that, you can really get a range of volume from these (8" unit pictured) and they tend to boost volume better than the subwoofer you can get with them. Also picutred are the foam pads that come with the units, and each speaker gets 2 pads! I can't describe how perfect those are for isolating sound and preventing rattle. I do wish the speaker wire ports were a bit bigger to support a smaller guage without fraying the wire. The RCAs that come with it are okay, but for the price they should have come with 5mm jacks too. Bluetooth is a nice touch, but I use these with other DAWs and a laptop. Sound quality with the RCAs and larger guage wire still comes in rich and crisp with no clipping for snares or other trebble. There's even minimal hiss when idle, so that's a huge plus. Compared to other studio monitors, these produce great sound without stressing your ears or the speakers. Maybe for twice the price another pro monitor would do just a little better, but I love the rich sound that comes from these 8" monitors. Even set low, the music and voice come out crisp rather than muddy. My only tech issue so far is a transient signal that caused repeated popping over the music. I had to power off the monitors and the subwoofer to stop it, and simply disconecting equipment did not solve it, so it was likely the components in the monitors. This happened after 1 month of usage, so unsure how and why it just happened as I haven't changed my current successful setup. ... show more

  • Magnificent product. Studio level quality.
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
I don’t normally leave reviews for products, but this one I had to do it. I am very pleased with the quality of the speakers. I have two studio settings, one at home with Focal Alpha 8 (1,000 price tag), and another one at my office, with these ones, and I can tell you that I don’t notice any major difference in quality sound. These ones may actually provide more Lo frequencies than the Focal’s while giving you proper amount of Hi frequencies. You won’t really need Subwoofers with these set of speakers. Additionally, you also have the convenience of Bluetooth connectivity, which is a plus. The way they connect to each other (hard wired) is kind of weird, because there’s a thing cable for that, but at the end of the day, is the simplest thing ever, and once they’re connected you just forget about it and start using your speakers. I would buy these with my eyes closed. ... show more

  • 8 inch - Muddy and basy, fun as a speaker, but not a great monitor
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
I had CR4s that stopped working, which I loved. I went up to the CRX8. These are built well, loud, very nice features, like bluetooth. The bass is very punchy and prominent, it is their strongest point I think. However, they are muddy. I listened to several pieces of music, and many features that I could hear in my headphones were mainly lost with these monitors. Despite the extra kick, I wasn't enjoying the music because its complexity was getting lost. However, something like gaming is fun with these. Movies are too, but again, some of the sound complexity gets muddied down. I returned these and got the Yamaha HS8s, which I like much more. They are significantly more expensive (~$700), and less loaded with convenience features, however. ... show more

  • Hi
Size: 8" (Bluetooth) Style: Gen2
I love you mackie and for all you haters out there, learn how to gain stage and don’t set the speakers on full blast. I’ve found that if you lower the knob on the speaker to half way and just tune ur speaker you would have way less feedback but these will still hiss just a tad but no bother to me. These are reference studio monitors and are treated more for djing but tbh for studio monitors these sure can do the job and can even keep up with most studio monitors that are out. If ur going cheap and you really need 8 inch speakers then these are a go! ... show more
