The M15i is a stunner. It's clean, super detailed, yet with a warmth that underpins the entire frequency response. I have a fairly large IEM collection, and this little dongle sounds great with everything. Every genre, every transducer - it's all just insanely good. If you need a one-and-done dongle, this could easily fill that role for you. There are quirks, though. For one, it doesn't power up the minute you plug it into a transport. You have to plug in your IEM/headphones for it to power on. No biggie, as you're going to do that anyway. Also, it doesn't have an independent volume toggle, it relies on the volume control of the source. OK - a bit less user friendly, but it's worth it too. I'll deal with a minor inconvenience in order to have that sound. No app, no settings, no needless fiddling about with extraneous "stuff". Plug it in, and love the sound. That's what you bought it for, after all. ... show more

I have had this for several months now. with an iPhone and a nice pair of Grado headphones for the most part. What I don’t think is well understood is that the two outputs of this thing are very different, and I think everyone that’s raving about it is using the balanced output. The normal single ended output doesn’t sound nearly as good, though it’s still fine. But if you’re getting this thing, you easy need to be able to use the balanced output to hear what all the excitement is about. Incredible how much this portable DAC elevates the sound quality when using iPhone 17 with Hifiman Sundara and Meze Albas. Both are great headphones I their own right and sound spectacular by themselves connected to a MacBook or or to iPhone with Meze's or Apple's dongle. But adding this M15i to the mix elevates things to an all new level. And I love that I don't need to charge this. Too many things that already need charging, no need to add a battery DAC to this list. The impact on iPhone 17 battery is very modest, nothing I note during a day's worth of use. First, my unit got statics in the first few seconds of playing music after a fresh plugin half of the time. I wasn't able to get the statics to reappear once music starts playing though. I heard it's a common thing across multiple Questyle models. Consider it a special welcome sound effect I guess. YMMV. Now to the sound. I got the purple version. Soundstage is flat, hardly any vertical articulation of instruments, with everything on the same horizontal plain. Music feels dry. Lower end is clean and tight, but a bit shy in quantity; Vocal sounds a bit thin, favoring female voices; Higher frequency is overly bright for my liking, giving scratchy feelings at times. When music gets busy, M15i Purple feels overwhelmed, screaming all parts of the music at ears without much separation. It could be due to the low power draw from the M15i design, making places supposedly full of excitement and energy sounding sharp and noisy. I bought the M15i Purple after days of research for a replacement of my Fiio KA17 because of its high power draw. After A/B testing it though, I've decided to live with the higher power draw in return of better sounds. ... show more

I loved this dongle amp/dac. It has a very clean and neutral presentation and I've driven a 64 Audio U4s IEM, a closed-back Focal Stellia, and an open-back Focal Utopia with this little thing. No problem with any of these and it's particularly good from it's balanced 4.4mm output. I'd also like to note that Questyle's usb-c to Lightning cable (unfortunately it needs to be purchased seperately) is one of only two brands of "short" dongle cables that I have not had issue with (even the high-end cable can exhibit too much wiggle in the Lightning port, causing the dac/amp to disconnect). However, I did have a problem. The M15i died on the 6th day. It simply would not connect or power on. Note that it was not due to a bad cable; I tried several others and none worked. That said, I love this dac/amp so much that rather than return for a refund, I requested a replacement. I'm hoping I will be able to return with a positive update, but for now I have to give this a low rating. UPDATE: The M15i mysteriously came back to life. Not sure if it suffered thermal shutdown (note that the case was cool when it died the previous day). Currently sounds great, but I'm still going to return this one when the replacement arrives as I fear this may happen again. Do note that I'm still going for a replacement rather than a refund because I love it that much. 2nd UPDATE: Replacement M15i arrived and it has been stable. Customer support was good, although replacement took longer than expected to arrive. I guess replacements do not qualify for Prime shipping; I should have returned for a refund and then bought a new one (that would still qualify for 2-day Prime shipping). Despite having run into a shutdown issue on the first unit, this is still currently my favorite dongle dac/amp. It gives me the mobility I want while using some high-end IEMs. ... show more

Pretty good for EDM. I paired it with TSMR amor and Eloit Velvet narrow bore. It fixed the highs for my IEM. Good value.

    • Give it a 10 min warm-up time then WOW.

Amazing soundstage, problem is you will need to warm it up. Some people suggest a 50 hour burning period. Because it uses a Class A topology. Connect the through the 4.4 balance lovely sound. Better the headphones/IEMs, the better it's going to sound.
