I guess I am old school, but I really love having a real 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is why I clung to my old iPhone SE for so long. That phone died and became way too insecure (no more updates), so now I am stuck with this adapter on a jackless (s/le/a/) phone. Positives: -It works, and it is from Apple, i.e. not a cheap knockoff. Negatives: -The edges on the 3.5 mm barrel and the housing surrounding the lightning connector are hard and abrupt (which seems like a very non-Apple design choice!), i.e. why didn't they fillet / smooth the edges of the hard plastic? -My Apple EarPods sometimes disconnected from this adapter connector when pulling on the cable trying to fish the phone out of my pocket. Directly related to this (and the cause of temporary minor emotional sadness lol) is that my phone just dropped while I was wearing my headphones. Since the connector disconnects fairly easily, the headphones detached from the adapter, causing the phone to continue its accelerating trajectory towards the ground. The impact bent the lightning connector, so now the adapter is dead. Despite my gripes above, I still need one. Unfortunately, this item (as of Jan 8, 2025) seems to no longer be in stock at Amazon or at Apple. I'm guessing it is discontinued (hope I'm wrong). RIP. ... show more
