I have two M1's and they both work flawless. I lightly oiled both of them and they are smooth winding and good casting reels. They have a very solid feeling, like reels that cost twice as much. I also own a couple of Max X X4s and a Max Pro and the M1 is not that far behind them in feel and quality. I would definitely recommend the M1 for a first time reel.
