  • Brand new midi user here
Size: 32 Mini Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
As the subject implies, I'm new to midi controllers but not to making music in general. I used to use Fruity Loops back in the day to make simple and fun electronic music and decided to give it a shot again. Back then I only used a PC but now I've decided to include a midi controller to see what I can come up with. So this is a hobby for me at this time. I have no other midi controller experience but what I can say is that the hardware seems to be high quality. Keys, buttons, knobs, etc all seem good. No complaints. Now the firmware side of things is where it gets a little tricky. The time it takes to create an account, update firmware (correctly), setup MPC Beats, setup Mlok licenses, etc is kinda of a pain to be honest. And then I think I had to do something with presets if I recall. I had to follow a youtube video to get the hang of things. M-Audio website and instructions were pretty good it just took a little time. But once I was up and running, MPC Beats (the included free DAW) worked just ok. MPC Beats is not intuitive. I realize this is a midi controller review, but MPC Beats is advertised as the included free DAW so I might as well touch on this. MPC Beats is confusing when you are ready to build a song. Making beats and recording is fairly intuitive, but assembling them into a coherent song is very hard in my opinion. The relationship between tracks, sequences, and programs is confusing. I ended up creating a really cool beat and was unable to actually hear one of the warm pads I was using. The song editor screen was buggy and not intuitive. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, so I ended up extracting the audio for each sound into separate audio clips and inserting into FL Studio. Why am I bringing this up? I ended up paying a little extra for FL Studio software so I could actually create songs easily instead of MPC Beats, so you may or may not find that MPC Beats actually provides value to the package sale. Overall: Controller itself seems nice, but included MPC Beats is confusing. If you are like me and don't like MPC beats for actual song creation, then expect to pay extra for another DAW. ... show more

  • Good keyboard.
Size: 49 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
Seller didn't even bother putting it in an outer box, so package came in original, beat looking box, and TOTALLY KILLED ANY POSSIBLE SUPRISE as a Christmas gift... SO FRUSTRATING!!! Doesn't reflect on product quality.

  • Used... again.
Size: 49 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
The controller came *very* obviously used, though I bought it as new. Great. This happens way too often. It was pre-configured to the previous user, and there was dirt all over the keys. I can only hope something isn't broken. It's a great controller, but buy it from somewhere else.

  • Its a neat midi keyboard
Size: 49 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
keys and pitch bend are kinda meh, but it works well

  • Great features and options. Keys are very comfortable. Moderately easy to configure and use.
Size: 61 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
I bought this controller in March 2022 to connect to my Korg Kross 2 for live gigs. Right away, I loved the feel of the keys and all the cool features, especially split zones. Plus the pads were great. However, 8 of the keys on the bed just stopped working. I created a ticket with support, but it went months before they replied. Eventually, they did send me a replacement and that unit has been working correctly so far. Would have given 5 stars if I did not have the support trouble. ... show more

  • Recommended - solid controller for DAW use and and Groove Boxes
Size: 61 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
So for the price you actually get a solid well designed midi, DAW controller. The feel of the pads and keys are very comfortable to use. the knobs are easy and the setting are spot on with today's DAWs. So far no issues with Reaper, Mixcraft, BITWIG, MPC Beats. The case is solid and well designed. It is heavier than I expected but that is always a good feeling meaning you know the casing is not cheap. *** The Perfect choice for stand alone Groove Boxes 100% compatible with Roland Verselab MV-1 100% compatible with Akai Force. The main reason I purchased this is for the 2 groove boxes listed above. It is great having one controller able to control BOTH the Akai Force and the Roland MV-1 at the same time. It also supply power to the Roland Verselab The only downside to this controller is the ARP (arpeggiator). It is very limited. You have more ARPS on the groove boxes than you do with the built in ones on the M-Audio controller. Presets you can save such as octave, pitch bends, pads, tempo and more and recall them via your song. What a neat feature for use when using groove boxes only. If you need a solid controller for groove boxes this is the one! A+++ Absolutely recommend this controller. ... show more

  • Great hardware, very silly software. Still a good buy.
Size: 61 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
Tech Savviness wise I'd say I'm decently competent, but even for me the user interface, customization and DAW setup and compatibility is far too difficult. Do I still like this keyboard? Yes, absolutely. But I'd like to point some things out: This is 100% NOT plug and play unless you ONLY want a midi keyboard or, alternatively and exclusively, drum pads. To activate all other functionality you have to go through this very tedious process that is extremely easy to mess up (especially for FL Studio). The point of one of these should be to make your music-making experience simpler by using the button shortcuts that make mousing around your DAW obsolete. I should be able to plug this keyboard in and for it to work as advertised right out of the box. Maybe I just haven't taken the time to properly understand it. Hardware wise this keyboard is a sigh of relief. I've had several midi keyboards and I can safely say this is one of the best feeling out there. The keys have nice weight to them and the drum pads are very responsive. TO CONCLUDE: I've made some of my best tracks on this keyboard and overall I could say I'm satisfied. But I do feel like this hardware could've absolutely blown me away if it was paired by the right software. ... show more

  • Plug and play all night long!
Size: 61 Keys Style: MIDI Keyboard Only
This keyboard is amazing... As soon as I plugged it in, all of my music software recognized it immediately - Pro Tools, FL Studio, Ableton, MPC Beats, etc) - no crazy configurations required. Keybed is nice - although some may say it's clickety clackety...
