I'm writing this as a courtesy to ST55 owners. There are a handful of reviews that suggest this rig works with said microphone and they are partially true. The thread is the correct size, however the outside diameter of the threaded piece is greater than inside diameter of the mic. It grabs about 2 threads before it bottoms out (see pictures) and that leaves a very wobbly mic. Not ideal. That being said, this is a nicely built product. So if it fits your microphone, fire away with confidence.

The shock mount is well built and made of metal - not like other plastic shock-mounts for same price range. I really love this shock mount and bought it because other reviewers said it will work with 99% of microphones, and one reviewer even stated that it works with Rode NT-1 microphones, which it does not unless you do major modifications. The diameter of the threaded section of the NT-1A are smaller than the shock mount, so I had to modify by fabricating a threaded insert to make up the difference. Also, the base of the microphone wobbles/freely rotates in the mounting because the threaded collar does not cinch up tight, so I made a foam spacer (like a doughnut) to fit between the mount and mic, which took care of the problem. I would recommend this product, but make sure it is compatible with your mic, or be prepared to use your machinist skills to modify it.

After looking at the price, I was surprised to discover the shock mount is almost entirely made of metal. The only plastic component to my knowledge is the articulating arm, which won't have too much stress on it anyway. In addition, they've also included a 5/8" to 3/8" thread adapter, a nice touch. I do a have a couple gripes, however. The articulating arm that allows you to change the angle of the shock mount doesn't move quite as much as I'd like. You might have to adjust your setup a bit in order to accommodate this. Also, the particular microphone I'm using (the Audio Technica AT2020) is able to screw completely into the socket, but wobbles and rotates quite easily. True, the mount isn't designed for this microphone, but I'm going to mention it anyway, as I'm sure many of you won't be using microphones on LyxPro's compatible list. Overall though, it's an excellent choice for those looking for a isolation solution without breaking the bank.
