I really love this set, it's perfect for someone who is just starting to craft or sew, or even for someone who is experienced but just needs an extra set. The pink colors just make everything so cheerful, and it's also hard to mix up with someone who has the usual yellow set. They won't take your cutting wheel home by accident. The set came with a bunch of awesome measuring blocks, lined in pink of course, a tape measure, the cutter, extra blades (one smooth, one for pinking) and a lot of clear clips for presumably clipping your fabric together while sewing. These clips are not too useful to me because I pin fabrics together and then sew over them, removing the pins once I know the two sides are sewn together properly. I wouldn't be able to sew over one of these bulky clips, but that's okay. I'm sure I can find a use for them elsewhere. I also think sometimes you've got to pin two pieces together that don't share the same sized edge, and these clips will only be useful if your two sides are the same length. But the cutting mat is great, the tools, and the whole happy pink theme is great. I'm really looking forward to using the wheel. There is kind of a seam on the top of the handle, which isn't terrible, but a bit annoying to hold onto. The top of the handle has a safety peg that you pop up to use, and push down to lock a safety cover over the blade. I think this set is great!

Overall, I found this set of sewing tools to be a very good value, especially for someone just getting started with quilting. The set has many of the items needed to get started without a lot of fuss. The set contains: 1. A 17 1/2 by 11 1/2" double sided self-healing cutting mat. The mat is thick and well marked on both sides with various angles and shapes printed to help with lining things up. Both sides have mm's marked but only one side has markings in inches along the edge. That makes one side less useful to me. I'd rate this mat 4 stars because it is slightly smaller than the 12" by 18" it was listed as and the lack of inch markings on one side. 2. A 3" by 15" ruler and a 6 1/2" x 12" ruler. Both rulers are marked in 1/4" increments which is adequate for most quilting measurements. I wish it had 1/8" tick marks for the times when that level of accuracy is needed. The rulers do not have hanging holes drilled into them so they will need to be stored flat instead of on my pegboard with my other rulers. I compared the measurements on these rulers to another one I have and they are both the same. I give the rulers 5 stars in accuracy but 4 stars overall because of the lack of hanging hole and 1/8" marks. 3. A 45 mm rotary cutter. The cutter is comfortable to hold but to get access to the blade I have to pull the clear plastic plug near the top outwards and to close it I have to push the plug back in. This requires two hands to open (while my thumb can close it as I still hold the cutter) and the whole method is awkward. I fear that it also makes it much too easy to skip closing the cutter so the blade is not exposed when between cuts. I only rate this rotary cutter a 2 because of the awkward mechanism to use it. 4. A bag of 20 clear plastic clips that I do like. They hold the layers of fabric tightly and are so convenient. I rate these with 5 stars. 5. Two "fabric markers" one white and one black. These are rather waxy and do not brush off the fabric. Neither do they iron off. The black one works well for making marks on the acrylic rulers and I was able to rub them off with a tissue. Before using either of them on fabric I will test further to be SURE the marks can be removed. 6. A 60" tape measure. It's a basic tape, not fiberglass so it will probably stretch over time but comes in handy for quick measurements. 7. Three 45mm rotary blades: two straight and one serrated. They are in a nice hard plastic reusable case.

I got into self-healing mats and rotary cutters when I got into sewing, but I quickly found so many other uses for them. This set has so many helpful items. The acrylic rulers are heavy enough to stay put as you work around them, which I love. The rotary cutter has a nice protective sleeve that is really easy to operate, and the included three extra blades is a huge plus for this set, especially if, like me, you inevitably don’t realize you need a new blade until you really NEED it...like today. And the sharpness is perfect. Just today, I used this set to cut some thick anti-slip material. I actually thought I’d somehow tried to cut with the protective sleeve closed because it was so smooth and effortless, I didn’t feel any cutting happening. Then I lifted up the cutter and went to move the material and gasped when it separated perfectly right where I wanted it. That’s sharp. I’m thrilled with this set, and at this price point, it’s a must have for any crafter or sewer.

This is a nice addition to a beginners sewing supply stash. It would also be a nice addition to add if you go to a lot of sewing classes due to the small sized mat and rulers. The pink color stands out, so you'll be able to easily spot it amongst your other rulers. The price is mediocre. I would not buy this for a seasoned sewer/quilter unless they went to a lot of classes. The mat size is small, as are the rulers. The rotary cutter is the perfect size, and of standard quality.

I have used the rotary blade cutter to cut through 65 lb card stock and have had no issues due to the sharpness of the blade. I'm quite impressed by the quality of the materials. The mat is very thick, ensuring that I'm not going to be cutting through to my desk. The color is pastel pink, which matches my whole set up. It is very easy to use. For the whole set, it's definitely with the money. It would make a great gift for anyone who requires the need to cut paper or anything that requires measurements.

We really liked this set. It contains all of the essentials needed to start quilting or to cut any fabric projects. I really like the pink edge on the clear rulers because they are 1/2" wide because it's the basic seam allowance. The mat is nice and thick and self healing. All in all we are very happy with the set. Would have been 5 stars but we were being picky because the rotary tool has a slightly wide head and it was a little tricky to see where you were cutting. Really not a big deal though.
