Read many reviews and looked at as many photos as I could find.... upon arrival though the colors were just not what we were expecting (to me it looked like cowhide) and we returned. The various pile heights people mentioned do seem a bit odd as they were very sporadic and hard to tell if intentional or not, guessing they are but the rug we got only had a couple of them.
