Detects depth and fish. Just what I needed

    • Really cool finder for beginners
This is my first fish finder so please read my review with half an eye closed. My finder reported accurate depths and can be adjusted to be useful for fishing. That said...out of the box the finder thinks there are fish everywhere. I literally should be stepping on fish. Of course this is wrong. The fish detecting software is misleasing but can be fixed. If you disable the "fish icon" ability you are able to view the raw sonar hits. With some learning you can interpret this sonar data to understand if it is a fish, weeds, trees, etc. There are many youtube videos that demonstrate this. Also, I turn my sensitivity to the max setting to get as much data on the screen. After 6hrs of fishing the battery was near 50%. For the price I like what this finder offers and would recommend it to a new user. So far I have yet to catch a fish. ... show more

    • An Excellent Little Sonar
I use my Lucky brand sonar for locating fish beneath the docks and piers within the harbors where I live. I’m tickled with the performance and the simplicity of this device. I think the brand has tapped into something special by offering a product that works almost as well as and costs a fraction of the price the old familiar competitors’ brands charge. I’m not saying that the familiar brands’ products don’t perform- they do and they do it well. What I’m delighted to say is that this easy-to-use and relatively inexpensive sonar does its job accurately. However, this thing has a reputation for being very hydrophobic (which is both unfortunate and weird considering its purpose) and I’ve taken it upon myself to not take chances so I keep mine in a Zip-Loc bag. The point is, for the price you’ll pay this sonar works great and if you take good care of it and take the time to learn its functions and settings you too will be as happy as I am with your purchase. ... show more
