  • Exceeded My Expectation
This portable sonar fish finder works very well. The value for the money is excellent! It is very easy to use. Out of the box, the default setting is on metric units (meters & Celsius for depth and water temperature). If you want imperial units (feet & Fahrenheit), just change it in the menu so that it defaults to imperial units. Using it out on the lake a second time so far, it seems to be accurate (comparing it with the a depth map that I have of the lake) and pretty good at identifying the locations of fish (I know because I felt many bites on my fishing line and had bait on the hook eaten, but no catches). Accessories (besides the floating sensor) such the USB charger cord, wall outlet adapter plug, cigarette lighter adapter, carry strap, and a small mounting bracket for mounting it on a boat or kayak. I chose to use the carry strap and not use the mounting bracket. The screen is small, but it's sufficient for my use. The graphics of the multicolor version of this fish finder are good. I like that it allows you flexibility to set it to display the raw sonar image or allow it to display fish (small, midsized, and large) locations by interpreting the sonar feedback. Out of the box, it defaults to display fish graphics on the screen (I chose to keep the default setting because I don't want the hassle of trying to interpret raw sonar images on the screen). I'm very happy with this fish finder, but admit that I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the previous reviews. My review is from a standpoint of a person who just fishes for personal enjoyment (and also for meals when I catch fish) during my free time. I'm not using this fish finder for commercial purposes and do not fish in any tournaments. ... show more

  • Awesome fish finder
This fish finder is very impressive. Right out of the box, it worked great. In using the manual the set up was very easy. I love the color screen and the way the unit displays to bottom contour. Although the screen is small, the display is very easy to read. I love the depth display. The total depth from the surface to the bottom is on the right side and is very easy to read. The actual depth is displayed in the upper left corner in bright black numbers. Awesome! . Everything worked great. I had some time to play with it and was amazed at how accurate the unit is. What I really liked was the readout for passing fish. It not only gives you the size but the depth. And with knowing the depth you can fish at that depth and catch more fish. I speak from experience. I even trolled with it. The unit kept up very well with no problem. Even at the 5mph maximum the Lucky Fish Finder kept up. If you want a portable fish finder that meets your needs on the water, the Lucky Fish Finder is for you. Love it. ... show more

  • It works and your not braking the bank
Be careful it is NOT water proof; however even some of the more expensive units are not water proof. The depth and temperature is accurate. I noticed that while moving (drifting in kayak) it shows a lot fish and when you stop and they are not as many there when stopped. I understand why and used to it now. I use mine on a Kayak and nothing is mounted. I hang the transducer from the handle so I can lift it out of the way in shallow water or near brush. The 26feet of cord I leave coiled up. The main unit I have tethered to my PDF and tuck it away while fishing or paddling. I slip it out while drifting and take a look, the screen is always easy to see (my picture doesn't show that well, but it really is) it is easy to use even for me a not techy person. Best of all I take it off the kayak and it is very portable and I can use it on other boats or off a dock if I want. WAY better than the $35 model by the same company and WAY cheaper than a big name unit that does the same thing and not water proof. I was nervous about this purchase until I got it on my kayak. With this I know the water temperature, depth, what the bottom of the lake looks like and can find structures. The only bad thing for me is now I can no longer use the excuse "there are no fish in that lake" because the LUCKY fish finder does just that. IF you are looking, I recommend skipping over the $35 model and get this one. ... show more

  • Does it's job and easy to use
Took this baby out for a test drive on a salt water fishing trip and i was completly satisfied with the results it is realy easy to use just plug in the sensor and place it in the water (you can cast it out but you run the risk of dislogging the stopper from the float) and watch the fish pass by so you know exactly where to cast your hook. I like that you can set the device to the size of fish as well (small, medium & large fish). The battery last for the 10hours that we were out at sea and still had charge remaining when we were done. I do recommend that you put silicone or electric tape around the seam of the device and use some dielectric greese on the connections or get yourself a waterproof case or bag to put the monitor in to reduce the risk of water getting into the monitor. Overall it is a good fish finder, easy to use, long battery life and the price is not bad either. ... show more

  • Worked great 2 times
I’d give it 5 starts for price and quality for the first and second time I used it. 3rd time the screen went out. I had high hopes and maybe I got a bad cable inside or something but I’m disappointed at this point. It never got wet or dropped I put back in a dry bag the whole time so idk what happened but it was cheap and we get what we pay for I guess. Definitely liked it when it worked but not now unfortunately. ... show more

  • Not good in a weedy body of water
Product worked as described up to a point. In a lake with weeds, it thinks every weed is a fish and beeps constantly. Depth measure works but I would design it with an additional (top and bottom) float stopper so the line stays at a set depth. With the single stopper, it tends to slide on the line. Maybe mine is just too small in diameter to fit securely. You get what you pay for and this is affordable for a portable fish finder. ... show more

  • An Excellent Little Sonar
I use my Lucky brand sonar for locating fish beneath the docks and piers within the harbors where I live. I’m tickled with the performance and the simplicity of this device. I think the brand has tapped into something special by offering a product that works almost as well as and costs a fraction of the price the old familiar competitors’ brands charge. I’m not saying that the familiar brands’ products don’t perform- they do and they do it well. What I’m delighted to say is that this easy-to-use and relatively inexpensive sonar does its job accurately. However, this thing has a reputation for being very hydrophobic (which is both unfortunate and weird considering its purpose) and I’ve taken it upon myself to not take chances so I keep mine in a Zip-Loc bag. The point is, for the price you’ll pay this sonar works great and if you take good care of it and take the time to learn its functions and settings you too will be as happy as I am with your purchase. ... show more

Good fish finder for kayak and ice fishing. Very portable. Readings seem to be accurate. Seems to be well built for the money.
