I took this LUCKY portable fish finder out for a few kayak trips and was impressed right from the start by how simple it is to use. Out of the box, everything feels lightweight and compact, and setup is basically “power on and go.” Just tie the floating transducer to your line, cast it out, and the handheld display connects wirelessly—no cables, mounts, or complicated installs. What really stands out is the wireless range. Being able to cast the sensor far from shore or your kayak and still get a solid signal makes it easy to scout deeper water and structure you normally couldn’t reach. The 3.5-inch LCD screen is clear and easy to read, showing fish icons with actual depth numbers, plus a scrolling history so you can see what just passed under the sensor. It also gives water depth and bottom info, which helped me quickly identify drop-offs and likely holding spots. In real use, it does a great job locating fish and showing where they’re sitting in the water column. The wide 90° beam covers a good area, and the depth range is more than enough for lakes, rivers, and nearshore fishing. I also like how portable it is—the whole setup weighs almost nothing and fits easily in a small bag. Compared to fixed boat fish finders, this obviously isn’t as detailed, but for something you can cast like a bobber, the performance is surprisingly useful. Pros: extremely easy setup, long wireless range, clear depth readouts, lightweight and portable, works from shore, kayak, boat, or ice, and rechargeable handheld unit. Cons: screen is basic compared to full-size sonar units, and fish icons are more of an estimate than a guarantee. Overall, this is a great option for kayak anglers, shore fishermen, or anyone who wants a simple, portable way to find fish without installing permanent electronics. Ideal for casual to intermediate anglers who value convenience, mobility, and quick insight into what’s happening below the surface.

This portable fish finder turns fishing from a guessing game into a successful fishing trip every time. This sonar-based fish finder allows you to scan for fish of all sizes using a 90° beam from 3 feet to nearly 150 feet deep. You can clearly see the icons for fish on the built-in bright 3.5" horizontal LCD display. It's also super easy to use. You just attach the sonar bobber to your fishing line and cast it into areas where you are likely to find fish. Also note that the data on the screen scrolls from right to left, giving you a continuous history of everything passing under your sensor, so you can track fish movement in real time. This is the most effective and easiest to use fish finder I've ever used. Five stars.

This is the second fish finder I have from Lucky. My other unity is more of a handheld, and this is still compact but has a larger screen with better graphics. It is very easy to set up and use and I love that you can cast the transducer out to where you need it rather than rely on a transom mounted unit. I use this between a boat and a kayak and seldom fish directly over the side. This would be great for fishing from shore as well. It is easy to charge with a USB-C charger, and you can take a backup battery along for longer life in remote areas. I haven't run it out of a charge yet but have only used it for a few hours at this point. I'm not sure about the usefulness for ice fishing as I don't do that, but it sure works great in open water. The only issue is that I can't tell if it has any water-resistant properties. There is nothing that indicates if it is IPXX waterproof, etc. It seems like there is, but I would hate to roll my kayak and find out it wasn't really meant for that. Not a deal breaker though, this is a great compact fish finder.
