I bought this mattress topper for a mattress I purchased that was incredibly firm. They say to give it 24hrs to expand but I was too impatient and put it on after about 10 minutes. My mattress was instantly transformed, it is so comfortable and soft, it also fits my queen mattress perfectly and have had no issues with it moving around! The only thing I will say is it does hold body heat but honestly is no big deal for the comfort. I broke my back a few years ago and struggle to get comfortable at night with this I am comfortable in minutes and sleep through the night! Totally worth the money spent!! ... show more

First picture is misleading-it shows a fluffy 2” free standing topper on top of the foam, when in fact it’s a fitted mattress cover. Definitely not filled as high as the picture shows. The foam barely had any smell, so we just sat it out for a day. (& I’m very sensitive to smells) It did not make us hot because it’s on the bottom with the fluffy mattress cover on top. I have a mattress that is very firm and for years it was fine. But as I have aged, many of my joints ache, and I needed a little cushioning on the mattress. I opted to try this product first before buying another mattress and I am glad I did. It is so comfortable, not too soft and it still offered support. I didn’t have a smell (I did let it air out for 24 hrs before I put it on the bed). The mattress pad that comes with it can be washed and it prevents one from getting too hot from the foam pad. I have the hardest mattress. I forgot about it while I was using a slanted topper to deal with reflux issues. Reflux is now under control and no longer needed the slanted surface, so was excited to go back to my normal, flat bed. Ouch - hard as a rock. Everything ached. Originally was thinking, well time to just give in and buy a new mattress. Decided to give this a try, hoping to save some money. It did the trick - two nights now and nearly all my aches and pains are gone. It basically is a thinner (2inch) memory foam pad and then a mattress pad on top that has a squishy 2 inch pad. To keep it all protected, I still used a regular mattress cover over that. It stays in place perfectly, no sliding to the sides or drifting, that I can sense so far. It only added about 3 inches height to my bed (squishes down a bit with my mattress pad on top), but I can still feel my hip getting that break to sink in when sleeping on my side. Will update if anything changes, but happy (better rested) camper for now. Oh - and I took it out and was going to leave it for the 48 hours recommended to puff up and off-gas, but within 2 hours all the creases were gone and I never smelled a thing, so it was on my bed within a half day of arriving. ... show more

This is a very comfortable mattress pad when layered as recommended: foam on bottom, cover on top. On the negative side, for me, it does not seem "cooling". I sleep hot, so it feels like it traps heat. I think the cover may be to blame so maybe I need to try it with just the foam by itself. On cooler nights, it is not as much of a problem. It feels comfortable for back and stomach sleep positions, but not for side-sleeping. I prefer side-sleeping, but this product is causing me hip pain. The foam is too rigid for me, but maybe it has to do with one's bodyweight. It might work better for a heavier person. As stated above, I need to test it without the cover to see if that will help with the heat. I am reluctant to do this because the cover is nice and I do believe it adds to the cushioning. I have the lucid 12-inch hybrid mattress. I love it tremendously, but somewhere along the line my body decided the firmness was too much. I finally gave in and decided to order this set because I wanted options. I have the 3-inch Lucid topper on my guest bed and know that it's wonderful. ON TO THE REVIEW ! First: this is a bargain buy for me because it gives multiple options if my body decides that i need to shake up the level of softness. I have both of the layers on my bed at this moment. This brand is always top notch. Having 3 different ways this set can be used (well, technically 4, if you include "unused,") means that I am prepared if my body goes all Goldilocks on me again. The foam layer is everything you'd expect from Lucid. It is dense, but light. It holds it's impression for just long enough (it isn't too springy, but also doesn't stay compressed for long after you move, which keeps you from slipping/rolling back into the same spot.) My experience with Lucid foam toppers leads me to expect that there will never be an issue of creating a divot or "body hole" if you lay in one spot too often. The down alternative layer is quilted in large squares to keep it from feeling lumpy, but also keep the fluff well dispersed. 2 inches of floof makes for a cloud-like sleep experience. Unlike the foam topper, the down alternative topper goes on like a fitted sheet. Since each layer is 2 inches, combining the two layers adds noticeable height to the bed, which was fine with me. I don't use a box spring, so it's not excessive. This **can** be an issue if you don't have deep-pocket sheets. Bottom line : Buy this, you will not be disappointed! ... show more
