  • Junk junk junk
Installed this expensive piece of equipment on my boat and turn it on for the first time in the bay and it doesn't work? No maps loaded can't read the depth gives me the water temp just fine but can't even find seaweed let alone a giant rock in the 85' deep bay. This one will not cooperate no matter what I try from the manual it's no good. Don't waist your money on this product. Stick with the hummingbird. might be smaller but it works! ... show more

  • You dropped the ball on this one.
We have had a lot of Lowrance fish finders in the past so when we brought our new boat it was a no brainer to get a Lowrance. When we received our new Lowrance I spent hours installing it on our boat and got out on the water and found out it did not work. The sonar screen had lines up and down and then looking at the instructions there was nothing in English. Lots of other languages but no English. So we could not figure out how to fix it so we sent it back. What happened Lowrance? We have always had good luck but not now. The least you could do if you are selling it in the states is to have the instructions in English!! ... show more

  • Easy Install
Got this installed in a matter of minutes. No info yet on using it, but hopefully will after this weekend.

  • Biggest fish ever
1. Power is separate from transducer connection, makes installation and troubleshooting easier. 2. GPS antenna is internal, no antenna headache. 3. Sonar works ok, I caught a shark. 4. GPS plotter has NO MAP FEATURES at all, so get the MAPS feature if you need that, I use separate handheld for that. 5. Split shot works good, but tripleshot is even better, I was on a budget so I got splitshot but I caught a shark anyway. ... show more

Installed fish finder/ Gps unit . Gps works but not fish finder. Went through all trouble shooting either unit is bad or transducer.

  • Price vs Features vs Value
This is $300 fish finder or maybe I should say this is a $300 BASIC model fish finder. On the positive side it does have a 7" screen for your $300+. Yes, as promised, it is easy to set up and easy to use mainly because there are NO extra features to get in the way. Want a split screen with your "split shot" transducer? Not with this model. You need the more expensive model for that feature. Connecting the transducer cable to the head unit can be problematic. Unless the cable is connected just so you will get false readings (or no readings at all) on the screen, my experience has been that you have about a 50/50 chance of s good connection the first time you try (even if you are used to connecting the cable) and possibly several tries will be needed before the unit works properly. Another funny thing is going to the Lowrance web page to look at the manual for the Hook 2 series, it's then you realize you have the basic of basic Hook 2 models and how feature packed the more expensive models are (for only several hundred[s] $ more!) , it's almost as if the basic model doesn't exist in the world of Lowrance manuals. I've used Lowrance for years but I think I'll try a different a different brand time, sorry Lowrance but you should really be more truthful with your customers as the exactly what they are getting for their $300+, or maybe tell them what they ARE'NT getting for their $300+. 7-24-19 Update: After using the Hook 2 - 7" for a full month of fishing I've decided to buy a different brand fish finder for the remainder of the fishing season. The reason for this are the continuing (and never ending) issues with the connection from the transducer to the head unit. As stated earlier unless this connection is connected tightly and just so the head unit shows incorrect information or no information at all. I've also found out that this connection will actually work itself loose during a day of fishing giving no information or false information on the screen. Like most fishermen I'm out to fish, not constantly fix Lowrances connection flaws. What a sad experience. ... show more
