Just installed last week. Took it out this past Sunday and was blown away by the charting function. Still getting used to the buttons and features, but it is one powerful device. I can't wait to use it when fishing. My only complaint would be to add a thumb-screw type bolt to the Tripleshot transducer in order to raise it when out of the water. Twice now, I've rounded the back corner of my pontoon boat and almost hit the transducer with my knee, since it sticks out almost a foot. ... show more

I bought the Hook2 7 with triple shot transducer to replace a very old non-GPS Lowrance that was on my used boat when I bought it. The menu system is intuitive and well thought-out. Good images for the money on downscan. Reason for giving 4 rating is because older version of elite 7, which was replaced by Hook 2 , does not have feature that I preferred, such as steering arrow . But overall it is okay for price

This is one of the better ones for the price. It puts me spot on to the fish! Had just a little trouble with the wiring in as I did it myself, but it was a simple fix if you follow the instructions!

Returned the unit twice. Each unit had the same issues - Depth bounce to different depths all the time or will get stuck at different depths. Depth appears as three dashes. Returning the unit the third time with the same depth and fish issues. Updated software and unit still did not work. Put a new transducer on and the unit still did not work. the unit seems to work great for a few minutes then loses depth. And the side imaging and sonar do work when this happens. Worked with Lowrance to do soft and hard resets and the unit still did not work correctly. Sent the unit back to Lowrance the third time - I would like to get a different model. ... show more

Cons: transducter/sonar problems, power cord, memory card/lack of instructions. Pros: Ability to map the lake or download maps from Genesis. I waited a long time to buy a fish finder like this, but I will be buying a different one, Garmin or Humminbird soon. About 50% of the time the transducer doesn't work. You'll get a water temperature reading so you know that it's connected, but the sonar portion doesn't work. You'll spend several minutes unplugging it and plugging it back in and rebooting before it works. I used it several times a week when I first bought it in APR 2020 until I moved in July 2020, then my boat sat until May 20, 2021, and when I went fishing this thing wouldn't power up at all. The following day I discovered the cause to be a loose connection at the fuse panel, which I know could be completely my fault. However the power cord to this unit is probably between 18 - 24 gauge wire, which is so delicate that it's difficult to get an effective crimp on the wire connector which is what my problem is. I took the boat out again on 23 May and it has power, but I was back to spending several minutes trying to get the transducer to work. When it works though I think it works ok, I can't say that it's helped me catch anything but being able to map the lake depths and download maps from C-Map Genesis is awesome and probably helps me the most. Also as someone else here noted, the largest memory card it will accept is 32GB, which I too found out after buying a 64GB card. Fortunately I had a 32GB already in a GoPro and was just able to switch them. The Hook2 7 is very nice and easy to use. One of the reasons I bought it was to have the advertised maps but this unit doesn't have it. I've asked Amazon and they redirected me to Lowrance and no action after 2 e-mails. Rather disappointed at customer service.

I haven't had time to play with it yet. However, installation and setup was easy enough only took about 30 minutes to swap out the old fish finder. I have given the value for the money 3 stars just because i havent had a chance to really use it yet
