This house did well for our front porch feral kitty over the winter, especially with a warming pad added. The only downside is the velcro that holds the sides together is hard to assemble, and if you've got a bigger cat the velcro can pull apart if they get too rambunctious inside. NO INSTRUCTIONS included, and I was dismayed when I could not figure out how to assemble it on my own... luckily I checked the listing and found some videos, but it's certainly not intuitive. Emma is a sweet outdoor cat. Her actual home is up the block, but she likes to sleep on my doorstep and then walk with me and my dog Rocket a couple of times each night. I wanted to make her comfortable, so I looked at several dozen house listings and read a ton of reviews but they all had complaints of the inside not staying dry in the rain. I finally noticed this one, and someone said it stayed dry, so I ordered it. There's an overhang on my front doorstep, so it's not completely exposed to rain. It was tested immediately and stayed dry during a mild rain. Unfortunately, a few days later, it really began to pour and it got fairly wet in there. Not sure if the rain came in the doorway, which faces my front door, or somehow leaked in, but it was wet. Rather than keep searching and testing houses until I could find one that stays dry, I put a big garbage bag around it and that's working. Otherwise, the house is very sturdy and nice. Emma curls up in there every night and loves it. The smaller of the two sizes being sold is a snug fit but she's not a huge cat and seems very comfy in there, and it also doesn't smell bad like the previous house I bought from a different company and had to return. The roof only zips up on the front and back, so I threaded a towel through one side of the roof, down under the bedding and up and out the other side to help keep her warmer from the slick walls. I added some soft and thick bedding for her to sleep on, as the mat it comes with is soft but seems a bit too thin. It makes me so happy that she is now safe and warm, and I smile wherever I reach in and pet her. ... show more

Got it for puppy parent visiting days, parents will come and meet for the first time or visit their puppies until they are ready to go home. Only assembling needed is the top, very easy no rocket science. Looks cute, is a nice size and feels durable. In my case I will not be using it every day , for everyday use durability will depend on your pet. Overall a great inexpensive option. ... show more

We are in the Midwest and the lady who use to care for the strays moved into an assisted living facility so we decided to pitch in for their care. Because of this these (mostly) feral cats tend to stay close to our property and specifically, we have 2 or 3 that like to spend a lot of time on our porch. The weather here can go through a full 4 seasons in one week, so we decided after TNR the colony we should provide a little bit of shelter. These are the best cost effective and nice looking houses I could find. The fabric is water resistant but the whole structure is held together with Velcro so it’s not quite waterproof, we have these on our porch which has guard rails and some furniture to help them not blow around in the wind. After a couple of months we now see these getting daily use! Usually it’s just a bit of wind shelter for them if it’s chilly outside and they’re waiting to be fed, but just last night we had a downpour that lasted a couple of hours and we saw one of our regulars taking shelter in one of these right by the wall of our house, despite the porch being almost flooded she looked quite dry in there. If you have frequent rainstorms maybe go with another option but for us, this gives the cats a little bit more shelter if they insist on staying close by. A good purchase ... show more
