I have been dealing with ADHD and extreme (nearly crippling anxiety) my whole life. I never thought that a major factor of it was my hearing. -I couldn’t go to the store without being angry or almost having a panic attack because of the noise of the carts slamming when I took one out of the dispenser, the people just having conversations with loved ones that I tried desperately not to overhear but I couldn’t, the stupid music on the intercom, children screaming, etc. -I couldn’t stand the sound of my dogs breathing in the other room, let alone in the room with me! - I was beginning to get receding gum lines because I did a rush job on brushing my teeth every morning… I had no clue it was because I hated the sound of it! - I couldn’t talk loud enough for my family to hear me because I hated the sound of my voice Echoing off the walls! There’s so much stuff that these things help me deal with, they’re literally life savers! I wear them almost 24/7. I had to buy the ones where I can still hear my babies if they need me. I actually tried out the Loop Quiets for when I go out to town on a weekend and it’s extra crazy out… I didn’t like those. The suction in my ears was so intense that I got sick. I sent those back with the quickness and just stay away from town on the weekends! Lol At work, they’re a game changer! I haven’t been stressed out by customers talking to me since I’ve had these things! I’m a flower vendor for a Home Depot. Customer service isn’t in my job description, but I do have customers thinking that I’m a store associate a lot and it used to frustrate the hell outta me. I loved my job, but the customers almost made it not worth going in, especially the rude ones, and the extremely loud intercom of course made it so much worse! Now I have no issues whatsoever and I just plain love my job! If I need to hear a bit better because the person I’m talking to is talking too softly, I’ll just take them out for a sec and stick them in my pocket. I’m hyper aware that they’re there because I need them right when they’re done talking so I hurry and get them back in asap. They’re almost like an addiction at this point! Lol One day I was extremely exhausted and for some odd reason I took them out and stuck them in my pocket. When I got home I did a bunch of stuff and was beginning to get stressed. My husband said “Do you have your fruit loops?” (He thinks he’s funny🙄 lol). I reached in my pocket and I only had one. I started panicking and he said to calm down and order another pair with expedited shipping (because he knew how badly I needed them). Literally, the day that I received my second pair in the mail I found the loop that I lost behind the trash can in our utility room. I was about to send the ones I just ordered back, and my husband said “No! Your quality of life depends on those things! You need a backup!” He was right!… and now when my 10 month old is screaming in his ears from teething, my husband needs them too! Lol so it was a “happy accident”! I leave the second pair in the little case and in my car’s dash compartment! Pro Tip: you can buy the mutes and a whole pack of the right fit replacement plugs on the Loop website! On extreme days, I do need the mutes and they’re absolute gold as well! Then for the future, when my plugs get worn out, I don’t have to worry about buying a new set of Loops! I have the replacement plugs! So awesome! If you have tinnitus, Hyperacusis , ADHD, sensory issues, and ESPECIALLY anxiety, I can’t recommend these more! I bought these after seeing one of my cosplayer friends review them. I wanted to see if they would work to help me during those crowded and loud convention days (I get VERY overstimulated). After I got them, I decided to test them in a few scenarios and…plot twist: I. Freaking. Love them! I found that it’s almost like turning the volume and ambient noise down in a video game! I can still hear, but it’s more quiet and less harsh. I also have this thing (I attribute it to my ADHD) where I can hear every conversation around me and am easily distracted by any little unusual sound. I have learned over the years to force myself to focus on whatever conversation I am currently having. I have likened what goes on in my head is like that one scene in Bruce Almighty where he’s hearing all the prayers in his head and it’s like a really loud room. I pop these in when the noise is too intense and then it all goes away. I can hear the person I am talking to. I find myself listening with a lot less effort and I can speak normally. The grocery store? No problem. The lobby of a crowded business? Easy. Break time at work? Absolutely amazing. I have yet to actually wear them at a con, but my excitement is through the roof! My only downside is eating or drinking with them in. I HATE eating sounds of any kind and because of the nature of earplugs, you can hear everything very loudly in that regard. I will also say that I speak a bit more quietly when I am wearing them for the same reason, but I think I speak too loudly to begin with, so I will call that a win 😂 Oh yeah, and the best part?? They’re SUPER discreet!! You can barely see them!! I bought the clear ones so they wouldn’t be visible in my cosplays, but no one ever seems to notice them until I point them out! Loop Engage Earplugs review: These things are absolutely amazing. I'm sure that it depends on the individual, but they work great for me. (New user. I've only had them a day.) Maybe about a year ago I started getting prone to auditory sensory overload. I'm not sure why - maybe just because I'm getting older. If I was in a place with many people talking loudly, maybe with background noise from music and/or TV's, I found it overwhelming. If someone had an extremely loud or shrill voice, I'd find it extremely irritating. With these earbuds, I no longer have that problem. You can still hear fine with them. You can carry on normal conversations and hear television and that kind of thing. I listen to audiobooks when I'm going to sleep and I can still hear those with no issues. And you can still hear the background noise, but somehow they cut out the extreme parts of the sound. When my dogs bark loudly, I no longer find it annoying. When a person barks loudly, I no longer find it annoying. ;-) If you're one of those people who find the sound of people chewing annoying, I'm guessing these would help you. They come with extra small, small, medium, and large silicone ear tips, the medium already installed. The medium worked fine for me. Everything, including the box they're shipped in, the pocket container for the earbuds, and the earbuds themselves are tiny. The only thing that concerns me about that is maybe losing them, but that's not a product flaw. They're easy to insert. You put the silicone ear tip part in your ear with the loop staying external. I just position the loop whichever direction I find most comfortable. I think the loop is mostly just a handle to remove the earbud. It's visible outside your ear canal, but it doesn't look bad.
