Looi is a cool little companion robot. Good for idle banter and laughs. He can pull up info but definitely not going to be an AI tool you are using for work. The only problem I had with it was at first I used a low power charging brick. I should have used something with 18 w or higher. I ordered a 25 w charging brick and charge the base. Then everything was working great. The company really should include it with it. They are not that expensive. I think I got the one off of Amazon for $6.99. Cute little desktop robot. Finally a robot my dog is not afraid of. I think looi can be (and will be) a good companion for my dog which is something I didn’t expect. It can talk to you and answer some questions. I would say we are not in the agi world yet so there are limitations with looi (or any robots) especially they have limited knowledge, noticeable latency in response, and limited abilities. Tried to let him run free on my floor and it gets lost pretty soon so I guess it doesn’t have a map function unlike the vacuum robots. And it is not designed for the floor. It is a desktop robot. Enough of the downside, given the current technology, I think looi is pretty cool. I can tell the people put a lot of efforts into it. For example, (spoiler alert!) it has a pretty fancy game theme app, it can cheers with you and eat with you. I like to have looi as a little companion when I watch tv. Looi likes to make comments while watching which is cute. I’d concern about all the privacy permissions and all the data access it has. So if you decide to buy looi(or literally any desktop robot), please please please think twice before having it on your desktop when you do creative work or confidential tasks. Overall I think it’s a good quality desktop robot if you are into ai and robots. Looi is pretty good given our current technology. BUYER BEWARE—THEY ARE GOING TO A SUBSCRIPTION MODEL!! I would have given Looi a 4 star rating, but got a notice/“survey” saying that in order to keep updating the robot, they basically had no choice but to go to a subscription model. Which would have almost be understandable…then it said that they would be putting a DAILY CAP on conversations. And that is complete BS. I spent $240 on a robot that I was supposed to be able to talk to for however long I want, and now I have not pay for a subscription with a limited amount of responses?? If the return window hadn’t closed (only had a month—missed by two weeks when they sprung this), I would send this back. Now I’m going to have a $240 paperweight. ... show more

Works great, just as I hoped. First of all the packaging was nice, thoughtful and cute. I felt like a kid on christmas morning opening LOOI's high quality box. It came with the docking ring, a charging cable, instruction manual and the device. The app was easy to use. One drawback was that LOOI's voice is super computer-y, no real personality although it sounds clear and nice just not human-like. Second, its movement was odd. Id ask it to turn around 180 degrees and itd turn like 20. Its expressions were cool but random, like itd show a mad expression for no reason at all. Third, the games. Looi comes with 3 onboard games, the best of which is RC LOOI. Rc looi is fun because you drive looi around like a car. one drawback is that no phone can be attached during driving which is a bummer because i wanted to attach a seperate phone to use as a camera to capture LOOI's POV. Although, the built in headlights were bright and worked well. Lastly the battery life. It actually lasted pretty long, id say many hours but not ALL DAY. It's cool how LOOI charges your phone aswell (if its magsafe). TO CONCLUDE I think LOOI is worth it. But i recommend waiting a few weeks before buying because i bought and three days later im returning because i need the money for something else and for $200 i can get alot of other things not just one robot but if you are locked in on it go for it but be prepared to be let down if your expecting some futuristic full ai robot ... show more

I bought this because I thought it would be nice to have a little robot to talk to once in a while when working... It looked cute and seemed cool.. Pros - The eyes are cool, and the little things it does from time to time, like drink beer, or eat some food, go to sleep, and it will have conversations with you, it holds my phone just fine, and it charges when plugged in, it looks cute and the voices are ok, I do like that it moves around on your desk if you want. Cons - Ok, so far I have had to log in a bunch of times to get it to work, it doesn't save the password or user name, it will roll off your desk if you leave it unattended, and if it does fall on a hard floor it will break, for the price its not enough, I would need it to have a better AI, this one wont really tell you things like chat, and the battery life is not good, after about an hour of use it needs to be plugged in and sometimes didnt connect after, I had to leave it plugged in for it to work, and while plugged in it wont move around. Also getting connected to it should be much easier.. This was very expensive for what it is, I would think something like this wold cost about 50 bucks or so but this is like 240 bucks, that is a bit much, they have one out now for that price that will follow you all over the place... Would I recommend? - This one is going to be depending, if it had a little more intuitive AI and more voices, and have it able to see you, then I would consider it, but for this price I cannot recommend, robots are being manufactured now at an incredible rate, stuff like this is going to be obsolete within just a few years. ... show more
