Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser, purchased 3-2023 from Amazon. I wanted to add a few lines to my review after using the Longer Ray5-10 laser. I have been having a blast with it. I can now make things I never could prior to purchasing this laser. In conjuction with Lightburn laser software it is a great asset to my shop. There is a learning curve but so much help is available on the Youtube channels. I am amazed by this machine. When I received my Longer Ray 5-10 Watt Laser, I found it well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was easy. I purchased this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser to help my daughter with a production laser engraving job she was working on. To accomplish this, I mounted the laser to a 3/4 in. thick hard flat compressed wood board and covered that with a 20 gauge steel plate. I made custom legs as I needed the rigidity and placed them so I could use them to align my engraving fixutre plate. I also moved the touch pad control up higher as I needed to slide my fixtrue in and out from the front. After installing lightBurn on my computer I quickly discovered that this is some great software. It was easy and intuitive to use. I was able to create her logo and engrave it on the first try. I almost couldn't believe it. I was able to adjust the power and speed easily. I am engraving on the top of a 2" diameter ABS plastic ball where the graphics are 1 1/2 inch wide. The Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser was able to do this easily. I adjusted the height on the laser modual to just clear the ball and pushed start and was pleasantly suprised to see it engraved the logo on top and down the sides of the ball witout a rotary table or a Z axis move. The precise laser beam does a great job. The ease of use of this laser and software is amazing. This is the first laser machine I owned. Before I began assembly, I had a couple of questions and Longer customer service was attentive and answered my questions in a timely manor. I was very impressed by the touch screen and its functions. I have a touch screen on my 3D printer and wanted one on my laser machine, and the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser comes with one standard. I highly recommend this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser. To show you how the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser engraves on a ball I clipped the Longer logo and imported it into Lightburn and engraved it on one of the 2 in. diameter balls. See pictures. I still have to make 2 slide in fixtures and may include those after completion. Each fixture plate will hold 36 2 in. ABS balls. I also will make an enclosure wit a vent. Dale ... show more

And I was so excited to do so, especially with the great sales price on a package deal. I got the RAY5 20W and the AIR ASSIST. Going together was easy (although I had to take the front and rear crossbars off and rotate them as I had matched the smooth finishes to the sides pieces). Frame is sturdy, especially with the updated corner brackets. I was wanted the 3 corner pieces to go on horizontally so I could use adjustable feet I had laying around, but no big deal, I can make some and a few well-known FB creators already sent links to the pieces and I'm resin printing them now. I only wish the front screen was able to tilt upwards, not very nice to have to bend down just to see the screen. I also wish the USB was on the side instead of the top where is it in the way. I was able to get some great first cuts done without knowing much about the settings in advance. I did install both LIGHTBURN and LASERGRBL to see which I liked better. OH: And for those marking down as a 1 STAR because LONGER doesn't provide support for either software? They don't own it nor sell it. That is like yelling at Microsoft because your Adobe doesn't work (or visa-vera). Seriously? Or yelling at your cell phone company because an app that you installed doesn't work. Contact those who are actually responsible and able to assist. Ok, so I was disappointed that the metal biz cards I got weren't able to be "etched" or "cut". I was able to 'burn' off the top layer to get some neat looking items for testing, and a piece of marble I got from Khobar Towers back in 1996 was able to be etched VERY quickly. (I etched "Khobar Towers - June 25th, 1996" on the bottom. The black biz cards turned out great! The Blue ones were ok (I think I had forgotten to readjust the laser height prior to etching). The stainless failed altogether, so I'll need to paint them or something so the laser can actually etch those. I am so glad I am able to get into this area of hobby! I had been looking into buy that famous "G" item for nearly $5,000 and am glad I didn't! At least with this item, you can use USB, wifi, or cellphone app if you wish! .. Your Internet is out for the week? No Biggy - at least you can still use this item all you want!! As a side note, I installed my air assist nozzle on the side of the laser body itself -- perfect place for it! Only MAIN issue I have with this model : The set screws are small and on the rear (unlike the 10W where they were larger and on the front), and the little flip-up height-set tab is difficult to work with and can flip out of place (even with magnets holding it CLOSE or OPEN) when trying to hold the laser with one hand and tightening the set screws with the other.) .. that's about the only main issue I have so far. Awesome product anyways, so don't hesitate any longer and get this item -- the sale price is perfect, too! ... show more

I’m a beginner at using laser engravers. But honestly this was an easy setup and go product. For me the hardest part is learning the Lightburn software. I used the app on the phone and did the MSgt chevron and then Home Sweet Home to test and it worked great i think. However my tf card stopped working. I reached out to the seller and the got back in touch right away. They will be sending a new one out so I can’t complain. Also the max capacity is 16gb for the tf card (micro sd). All in all it’s a great product for the price, and the customer support is excellent. ... show more

I would not recommend purchasing this laser engraver. Initially, it functioned well and was a Christmas gift for my son. However, after only four projects and 90 days, we encountered significant issues with the alignment of the X and Y axes. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the problem, Amazon's return assistance was unhelpful, and Longer's customer service was non-existent.
