    • Way better than most keyboard systems!
So when I started to review this and give it stars, it asked about the Bluetooth connectivity and battery life which I find weird because, it doesn't need those things. This keyboard connects to the ipad directly through the lightning port. The keyboard is also connected through the case via connector points and doesn't require a battery which is a plus. That right there is my number point about this case. I have read other reviews that say most of the time the keyboards on wireless ones work good and that there is't any lag or random turn offs. Don't have to worry about that now, but I will have to see how well the cable part will last. So far the kickstand aspect of the case is nice and firm, not flimsy, I imagine over time it will start to get looser and the keys have a nice feel to them. All keys function properly and has a actual feeling of clicking the keys. The speakers part of the case, where it says the sound comes out, that part I'm not so sure about. Haven't had too much experience with it yet for that but having extra space on the case for that doesn't seem necessary. It is heavier than most cases but I like that in a case, I feel more confident in its ability to protect my ipad than other flimsy material and if you watch the video by logitiech on the design of this case, it really does look like a solid safe design. I'm really excited about this case, hope it lasts me a longtime but if it does break or have major issues, such as the lightning cable port no longer able to charge the ipad, I'll come back to update the review. But liking it so far! And better price than others! May 18: Post edits to review So the speakers redirection is nice, instead of going out to the side of the iPad, it redirects towards you. One negative thing I will add though is the fact that it isn’t a Bluetooth keyboard and here’s why. The case connects to the lightning port, the iPad thinks there is a keyboard always connected. So if you disconnect the keyboard and say click the web browser to look something up, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to bring the onscreen keyboard up. The iPad wont let me as long as the case is on and it thinks there is an external keyboard. So that’s one aspect I’m not fond of, but I bought to be use as a laptop anyway. Now the other part, I don’t know if it was just a sale Logitech had but the price when I got it was $45, so the price going up to $60, either they are lower in inventory or they noticed that they can’t compete with other systems at that price.     • Didn’t know you could buy an Ipad cover with keyboard of the quality. Great system-
I use my IPAD 5th generation daily. Received my Logitech Rugged Ipad holder a few days ago. Was very impressed with the quality. I have had a couple other holders that cost as much and were totally junk. Problems included but not limited to keypad sticking, doing multiply numbers or letters. And worst of all they would break at the hinges. The keyboard on most others had to be separately charged. My new Logitech system is heavier and the keypad works perfectly. The two pieces are attached by a magnet so there will be no busted hinges. THe ipad is recessed into the cover so no need to worry about breaking your IPAD screen.     • Rugged case and keyboard
I wish it was practical to use the iPad as just a tablet with this keyboard case without removing the keyboard and it is missing a few keyboard shortcuts that my last Logitech keyboard case had that I used frequently. However, I was prepared for this when I purchased it and the product has performed very well as advertised. In the feature ratings area there is no "N/A" option for Bluetooth connectivity and 0 stars would imply that this feature was horrible, so I ended up giving 5 stars for a feature that this product doesn't have. I chose 5 stars, because I feel that the design feature that makes Bluetooth connectivity unnecessary is a real strength of this product. This feature also eliminates the need for a battery. The case is a little bigger than others that I've used, but it is very protective and I don't feel it is as bulky and awkward as others that I've seen that offer comparable protection. I find the keyboard very comfortable for typing considering the size. I have been using a tablet for work for a number of years and found that a good keyboard case for my iPad allowed my laptop to remain on my desk most the time. Every Logitech keyboard case that I've used has been better to type on than other brands that I've tried in the same price range. I do have one design complaint about the keyboard (besides my missing shortcuts). The Lock Screen iPad shortcut key is directly above the Delete key. A slight overreach of the right pinkie figure when attempting to backspace results in a black screen. My other Logitechs had that shortcut and I don't recall ever hitting it by accident. I would suggest they address this on the next generation of this model.     • Durable but heavy
I really like this case. It's well built and by design it adds considerable thickness and weight to your tablet. The keyboard easily detaches with a magnet. Instead of connecting with Bluetooth, the keyboard draws power from the iPad through metal contacts on the case and thus only works when attached. The stand is on a sturdy hinge. This keyboard case was designed for business and education, and as a result there are a few unique quirks about it. Underneath the hinged stand there is a clear plastic window where you can display a barcode for the sake of keeping inventory. Since I'm not in business or education, I typically wedge a sticker or post card in this spot, adding a subtle touch of customization. The downsides: the considerable weight of the case makes it tiring to hold up while reading on the Kindle app. This isn't an issue if you rest the device on your lap. By design it's harder to remove your iPad from this case compared to other cases, so you're disincentivized to frequently swap it for a lighter case or cover. I'm also paranoid I'll scratch it when I swap cases, because it fits very snug in the case's plastic interior, however after about a dozen swaps, so far there has been no scratching. ... show more
