The Logitech Blue Sona came onto my radar when looking into alternatives for similarly priced and designed microphones. Similar to industry leaders like Shure, I decided to take a chance on the Blue Sona and test it out. I bought it at full price MSRP ($350), and I am not disappointed. Ran through a budget PreSonus Interface, and the results I received from this microphone were incredible. Matches or beats the industry standard, and for cheaper too! Has a high pass filter and presence boost mode if you want to use that and has an internal shock mount that works great with my microphone stand. I really cannot praise this microphone enough. From build quality to features, and of course audio quality, I fully recommend this microphone. Especially if you are a streamer/YouTuber as a condenser microphone is typically not well-suited for these applications. Pros: Incredible audio quality Well built Plenty of features Regularly on sale An ideal choice for streaming/YouTube Cons: High pass filter and presence boost modes can be aggressive imo. If you are a recording engineer just try this. Run a phantom powered mic pre with it. Yes I know it already has a built in micpre but use both trust me. With that much gain the mic act more like a condenser and sounds ridiculous. It has a very easy to hear “sweet spot” (for me about 5 - 8 inches away) which is why I recommend it for music. A singer can grab it and move it has they sing…like a lot. It’s not even close to being a problem. Dead quiet. It’s very forgiving on vocals and acoustic guitars guitars. Distance is everything with this mic. You don’t want to be right on top of it. That should be became apparent right away. It has gain and loves even more gain. Easy and consistent. If you know what you’re doing, you will absolutely get what I mean about the distance. Finally, Logitech makes stuff (keyboards, gaming accessories) that simply work and they are rugged. I personally am brand loyal to Logitech. Their products are high quality and overall awesome and the Blue Sona is no exception. The white version looks gorgeous (its actually more of a pearl white). Setting it up is easy. Sound quality is great. Make sure to get a good XLR board to pair with it and an XLR cable (It does not come with an XLR cable).
