It's thick silicone, so it easily handles practically nuclear-level heat. I [do] wish it gripped the pan handle better. It doesn't feel like a Lodge-specific, custom-fitted sleeve, rather, it feels like a one-size-fits-all sleeve. The danger in that- is that it feels loose during handling. I can easily feel the pan handle move within the sleeve, which is an uneasy situation when you're moving a 500-degree pan- that you can't exactly grab with a second hand if it starts to tilt or heaven-forbid ROTATE as you pick up a hot pan. The extremely thick sleeve also lends itself to potential build-up of oil/grease on the inner surface, which is already naturally smooth/slick. This makes for a precarious handling, especially if you're not using a second hand (hopefully also with a silicone cover) at the opposite side of the pan. ... show more

This works great for our cast iron! The material is thick and very heat resistant, also easy to clean. It looks really big when it arrives compared to the handle of your pan, but there are thick “teeth” inside that hold it on well. It does wiggle a bit but that doesn’t change the effectiveness. I only use cast iron cookware. I bought this as an additon to one I already had. It works just as well as one I've had for years. It is well worth the cost in buying and using one rather than get a burn on your hand. Do yourself a favor and buy one.

I got this Silicone Handle Holder to keep from burning my hands when cooking on the Stove Top. So far so good. Would never leave something like this on a Skillet when putting it in the oven. The issue I have is, it doesn't fit snugly enough on the handle. Just to pick up a Skillet and move it around on the Stove Top, it's fine. Where if falls short is when you want to turn the Skillet to say, pour off Beacon Grease. Then the handle wants to turn inside the holder. Doing this one handed is nearly impossible. It's advertised as fitting the 9" to 15" Lodge Skillets. So, I just assumed all the Skillets in that size range had the same size handles. But apparently not. If the 15" Skillet has a much larger handle than the other size Skillets. And this holder fits that Handle. Then that's why the handles of my 10" and 12" Skillets want to turn inside the holder. Another thing I discovered. Because it is a such a good insulator. I have to remember to take the holder off when I stop cooking. Because when the Skillet has cooled down and I take the holder off to wash the Skillet. I find the handle is still way hotter than the rest of the Skillet. The holder acted like a blanket, retaining the heat in the handle. I'll keep using it because it does what I bought it for. Just a bit disappointing that it doesn't fit more snugly. ... show more

a necessity for the cast iron skillet as the pan gets extremely hot. The silicone holder has held up very well so far and handles the heat admirably. This definitely ensures you are able to lift and hold the pan with confidence.

These silicone pan handle covers are a nice invention. They are easy to clean but they're too big for my cast iron skillets so my pan tends to slip and rotate when I lift it off the stove. They aren't all that heat resistant, either. For my safety, I'll go back to using my potholders.
