I lke these mitts because they offer really good grip! Which, for oven mitts, matters a lot. They also look good. I hope they can be cleaned easily (that's something I cannot comment at this point).

I have used a pair of Ove' Gloves for the longest time. The nice thing about them is they fit snuggly around your hands and you have 5 finger dexterity. They have served their purpose well but I never felt they worked as well as advertised, e.g. when grabbing something hot from the oven I have maybe 15 seconds before I really need to put it down, and their weave construction means they should not be used in steamy applications. The HexClad silicon oven mitts address the two issues I had with the Ove' Gloves, namely they offer better heat shielding protection from high heat, I was able to hold a casserole dish straight from the oven for half a minute and it only felt moderately warm, whereas I would have needed to put down with the Ove' Gloves before then. The silicon portion of the mitts also protect against steam since it's non-porous so the stream doesn't get through, yep, I tested this over a boiling kettle. The silicon mitt has a textured pattern which provides pretty good grip against slippage, while the interior is lined with cotton cloth and a small amount of filling, so it has a little bit of padding. Now, since I'm coming from the Ove' Gloves I do miss the snugness and the 5 finger dexterity, the former more than the latter as the mitts are one size fits all and was made a little larger to accommodate everyone, whereas while having the fingers is nice it's not really necessary for most jobs.

HexClad is honestly the most amazing quality kitchenware products you can get. I’m sure many of you reading this review know who Gordon Ramsey is… this is the brand he used. And to be fair, I didn’t know what an awesome oven mitt was until I got these. I love that the exterior friction of the mitt part is silicon and the honeycomb structure to it makes the mitt incredibly flexible and bend to you will. Overall, the mitts seem very thin, but I can handle my Lodge cast iron skillet coming out of the 500 degree Fahrenheit oven no problem. The silicon makes these easy to wash off residue as well. The interior of the mitt isn’t some random cotton stuffed quality either. Its quilted and soft, but it doesn’t have weird fluff come out on your hand when you pull your hand out. These are amazing and I’m sure if you were wanting to get your friend a nice birthday or christmas gift, they’d love these.

These are great : BUT they're not great for small hands like I have, so one star less for not offering different sizes (maybe the next production could include this choice?). In the photos you can see what happens - my hand doesn't fit as it should, and it is a bit of a hazard to use these as gloves; so I mostly use them as I would a potholder. That was another star less because the rubber is great to hold onto lids etc. , but I honestly cannot use them as intended because they're soooo big. Love the rubber grip and the quality of the glove is good - not too thin but IMO could do with slightly more thickness. Taking casseroles or trays of food out of a hot oven the gloves let quite a lot of heat through the non-rubber part, so be careful. If only they weren't sized so big! my thumb can't fit in its place and the glove itself would be even better if it was almost half a size smaller, as you can see in the lastphoto. I like black so the color is perfect. I haven't washed them yet but they are cotton so I will clean them in warm water and a bit of dish soap.

These are so helpful to have around the kitchen! They are obviously necessary for the kitchen but these are specifically good. The heat doesn’t go through the gloves which is so nice.
